Hi,

i bought the Star Wars bundle yesterday and I have a problem regarding savegames with Jedi Outcast.

When I click the "save game" button in the savegame menu, nothing happens except a console message on the top left corner regarding an overflow. I can see that the savegame files are created on the HDD. However, JKII for some reason doesn't recognize that these files exist, since both the save game and load game lists remain empty. The quicksave/quickload stuff works, but that doesn't get me very far since I can't load these once i close and restart the game.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and maybe found a workaround for this?

Thanks in advance!

p.s.: I have reinstalled the game multiple times but this problem persists for me. I'm running it on a notebook with Windows 7, an i5 processor and a GeForce GT 525M GPU.

Is the game installed in C:\Games\ or C:\GOG Games\ or something similar? Or is it in Program Files? If the latter, try reinstalling to an unprotected folder, as since Vista the Program Files folder can cause issues due to DEP and UAC.
Thanks for your reply! All of my games are installed on a separate partition, therefore my installation path is D:\Games\GOG Games\ . So I assume that access restrictions from UAC are not the problem here. Also because the savegame files are created on the HDD as I mentioned. I don't think this would be possible, if the game executable didn't have access to the savegame folder.

Well if the games are on a separate partition then I'd be very surprised if it were DEP causing the issue. UAC can still cause problems, though. For instance, the game may want to look for save files in the user documents folder rather than the game folder. So let's try to rule this out too, then.

Install the game by running the installer as administrator. It is then installed with administrative permissions. Run the game by running it as administrator and create a save. Exit the game and then start it back up, again running as administrator. Try to load the save you created.

If this works then it is likely that UAC was causing the issues, and the running as administrator is the fix. If it doesn't make any difference then we've ruled out UAC as the cause.
Thank you very much! Explicitely starting the installer as admin did the trick!
