It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

thepyrethatburns: One last suggestion from the other topic. I see that you downloaded this on the 13th as I did. After doing a number of heroic actions and patches, I was speaking to Tech Support where we came to this solution.

---------------

Upon your suggestion, I have tried downloading the offline installer one more time. This time, it seems to be working. At first, it stated that it was syncing to the GOG Galaxy Cloud but I have uninstalled GOG Galaxy and then reinstalled the offline version. It still works. As such, it seems that it was just a bad download/install.

----------------------------

In my case, I found that it worked on Galaxy but not on the offline installer. Long story short, it seems that, while we were all stampeding to download Armada 1 and 2, some of us got server hiccups

As such, you may want to try deleting the offline installer you have and redownload it to see if that fixes the problem.

cazimiir: Tried this and it worked! How strange, I would have thought the game would just fail to download or something. Learn something new every day :)

Many thanks and merry christmas all!
When you install it, if you click the "Launch" button on the installation complete window, it sets up some compatibility settings for the game through the registry. If you don't click that, they don't get set up.

Thats interesting, dont think i did that on first install either.
After one install from GOG and two reinstalls from Galaxy, it's finally showing the menus right.
I don't understand what changed and I'm not gonna question it lol

I reinstalled several times, watched for all changes to the disk and registry, tested playing the game before and after hitting the "Launch" button.

It didn't work before launch, it did work after. There were a couple of registry changes, I found the ones that made the difference.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers]
"D:\\GOG\\Star Trek Armada II\\Armada2.exe"="HIGHDPIAWARE"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers]
"D:\\GOG\\Star Trek Armada II\\Armada2.exe"="HIGHDPIAWARE"

Before hitting launch, it seems to be = "$ DWM8And16BitMitigation", or something similar.

Since everyone's folders are different, I wrote that script to make it simpler for people without tech skills.

I'm amazed no one ever replied to my thread on it with the solution.

This worked for me!

MattyTheMad: (1) download "Armada2.cmd" from
avatar
MattyTheMad: (2) Place "Armada2.cmd" in your "Star Trek Armada II" folder
(3) Right click Armada2.cmd, "Run as administrator"
(4) Play the game! You're done!
(5) It should be working now, you don't need to be here anymore
