Hi
is it somehow possible to switch to german language in the games (Spellforce Platinum edition and Spellforce 2)?

I originally played the german version of the game many years ago and thought i could do the same with the version sold on gog.
Sadly that doesn´t seem to be possible?

Could gog.com provide the german language files maybe?

Thanks.

To be fair, the product information lists only "English" as the game's language, so we can't really expect it to be multilingual.

That said, most JoWooD games were originally produced in German, and the German voice-acting is usually better than the English, for these games. So it would indeed be very welcome if GOG could get hold of the German files. This would probably make these games even more attractive to German-speaking customers. And since Nordic games acquired all of JoWooD, there shouldn't be any legal/licensing issues involved - the question is just whether GOG wants to pursue this, and whether Nordic is willing to give those files away. (Note that Nordic might be reluctant to give the German versions to GOG if they plan to re-publish them by themselves in Germany.)

Side note: I have seen a "German Patch" for SF2 on the official website of that game, but it's meant for English bundle versions of the game that were once bonus games sold with graphics cards. There's no way of knowing whether this patch would work with the GOG version, and I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you are prepared to re-install the game in case of failure.
I've just installed the aforementioned patch over my GOG copy of Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars.
Loaded a save state, everything seems to work, I now have German texts and German voices. Thx for the hint!
It would be great if GOG finally added German versions of these games.

No doubt, but I think that the localizations are in legal limbo (yes, they can and often do exist separately from the game in question). It's either that, or that an accountant at GOG looked at how much it would cost to purchase the rights to the localization, looked at how many customers are located in Germany, estimated how many of those customers would be happy enough with the English version, and concluded that the localization would not pay itself off - all the more so because if you're going to provide one localization, there will be pressure to offer all of them.

Just to clarify where I'm coming from here, my future career likely lies in the translation industry so I vaguely know how things are done there.
normally i don't care much about the language options at gog discussion, but its still stupid not to release the games in their original language, and thats german in this case. the same goes for all settlers games. they come from germany and have their biggest fanbase there, yet they are only available in english. at least an explanation would be nice.

Do you still have these files? Is there any way to upload them somewhere? Just found out that the 'bundle-patch'-files on the official site doesn't exist anymore. :o/

No, I don't have those files or the game installed any more, sorry.
Thanks to the user 'Treweis', here is the official patch. Works perfectly with the GOG-Version of SF2.

Just extract the package to the game folder and enjoy the german game. :o))
