I’ve seem to have encounterted the dreaded ”camera bug” much earlier than usual. I’m stuck in Sevenkeeps. After reviveing Jared, I’m supposed to talk to him to get him to make the anti-hangover potion for the dward ambassador. Camera bug hits during this dialogue, and trying to skip though the dialogue with space doesn’t help. Any suggestions apart from uninstalling and starting a fresh game with Anniversary Edition?

I’ve read comments about the Anniversary Edition being in some aspects inferior to the older Gold Edition, so I decided to go with the original Shadow Wars, which can still be installed from GOG, even though you can’t purchase it anymore. Main screen tells me that the game version is 1.02. Before starting my playthrough, I’ve installed the hardware patch 1.2 and the camera patch. This might have been my downfall, as it seems I’ve not been playing Gold Edition, but the ”vanilla” Shadow Wars. I’ve also got a few mods installed (Widescreen mod, retexture mod and DPS mod).

I’ve tried to uninstall the camera patch and verify game files through GOG Galaxy. I’ve removed the whole game, and reinstalled without installing any fan-made patches or mods, apart from the Hardware patch 1.2, without which the game won’t run. In every instance I’ve also tried using portalstone to exit the Sevenkeeps map, and re-enter. Nothing helps. If I speak to Jared and the bug triggers, I can still teleport out of the Sevenkeeps map, and the other maps work just fine. Upon re-entering Sevenkeeps, the camera glitches again.

Running Win10 21H1, Core-i5 6600K, RTX 2060.

EDIT:
After re-installing the game without the camera patch and reloading an older savefiles before the first time I’ve set foot in Sevenkeeps the dialogue with Jared plays out normally. So now I only have to replay the first visit to Sevenkeeps and to Westguard. The problem is, I’m afraid that the bug’ll show up later during gameplay when I’ve spend many more hours playing. Any way to test or prevent this?

If my memory serves me right, this was caused when both SW and DS had been installed. I would suggest to uninstall DS which should solve this problem, so you shouldn't run into the dreaded bug again.
Yeah, seems like my mistake was that I had installed the camera patch on top of vanilla Shadow Wars, which broke the game. I’ve now played a few maps ahead without problems so far. Here’s to hoping I won’t hit the bug again. I’m trying to remeber to make a separate save file before entering any new map.
