I can't help you, but this is were the problem lies. I have several options there.

Maybe updating your card drivers? What's your graphics card, mine is an Ati 4800 something.
580GTX with the latest drivers.
If I go into the Data directory I can play the intro movies from intro.exe

Weird... sorry, can't help you any further. Best bet would be a support ticket and maybe somebody else might find this thread.
I redownloaded the game & reinstalled, but the same result.
If anyone has got this game running in Win7 64 with an Nvidia card, can you post what drivers your using & what exactly shows up in the video>driver & mode boxes.

I just tried this on my Asus G73 w/Nvidia 460m and 268.30 drivers and it worked fine. No issues and I did not do anything special, just a straight install, did not check any compatibilty stuff, just let the GOG installer run. I get a choice of various modes, including 2 HAL moves and 2 460M choices (couldn;t see any diference, so chose first one), tried various resolutions and all worked., all are DX7, two of the choices are Direct 3D HAL and Direct 3D T&L HAL, I did not try those.

I also know that I ran this before on XP on a very low end system and it ran fine.

Good luck!

Hey :)

I had LOTS of crashing with mine and I 'seem' to have fixed the worst of it (hopefully.. touch wood) and I installed the previous version of DirectX from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=3b170b25-abab-4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d

It's actually from the GOG support page, I thought I already had it installed, but steam had updated it.

Good luck.
Well I bit the bullet & downloaded the 266.85 drivers. (268.30 weren't available for a 580GTX)
Reinstalled the game with all defaults
And still nothing shows up in the driver selection boxes.

Unfortunately I already have those.

Bummer :(

Soz you having so much trouble.
I got it running.
The problem was I had Hardware Acceleration for Direct Draw disabled.
I disabled it to fix grapics glitches & slowdowns with some infinity engine games.
I didn't think of it because it's been like that for as long as I've had these hard drives & hasn't stopped any other game from detecting the video card or running properly.
I put the 285.62 drivers back, because the 266.85s played havock with the widesceen mod in the infinity games.
I tried Dx7 Direct3D HAL, Dx7 Direct3D T&L HAL, & just the GeForce 580GTX drivers, and could see no difference.
I'm only a short way in, but so far no problems.
Olnorton.. I'm just updating this thread (I hope you don't mind) for those who read it and think yours is now working...

You said in another thread that you are now crashing, yes?

Sorry, for doing this I just want to make it clear to people who come here that there is something wrong with the game.
I had the same problems like olnorton. But I solved them. It was enough to change the compatibility mode to Windows 98/ Windows ME, and after this the game is running now.
My Hardware is a HD Radeon 7950. 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 64 Bit, AMD Phenom II 940.

The game looks a little bit ugly with modern texture filters. I think I must fiddle around with the settings a little bit. Maybe someone can give me a hint.
NOT SOLVED. Won't start on my Win 7 64-bit. Clicking the program icon produces a brief circular wait icon, then nothing at all. I ran the installer again in Administrative mode, no change. Running the game in Administrative mode, no change. Tried "Troubleshoot compatibility" and got it to start but ended right away with two error windows: "Unable to change to directory data" followed by "Fatal error: lang.dat not found."

I reinstalled it and tried it again. Same problem again!! WTF

But then I remembered becaus of the error messages I changed the security settings for the data folder. Try this (sorry if I'm using the wrong menu names, I'm using a german windows):
Go into the game folder and right click the data folder. Click on properties and then the security tab. Activate the first option in the lower list (full control?). Then look into the taskmanager. Every soulbringer process should be terminated. Try starting the game again with compatibility settings windows 98/ME. That worked for me.

I can confirm. On Windows 7 64bit this trick worked. I got it running.
