Is there a way to know whether I'll be encountering the enemy at night or in the day? Also, I'm finding going prone outdoors quite annoying. A small pebble can prevent me from going prone and ruin my plan. Can I enable a grid to show passable/impassable terrain?

Oh yeah, is there a way to check for your soldier's line of sight? It's really annoying. I can't determine whether a particular position blocks my LOS due to someone else standing nearby, or a railing. Shooting from 2nd floor windows (in the 2nd mission in Great Britain, playing as Allies) is an example. One minute I have 0% chance to hit, the next I get 60% when the enemy changes stance.

-edit- Also, sometimes I get higher chance to hit with Aimed Shot than Careful Shot. What's up with that?

AFAIK, each map has a set time of day- there is no passage if time. The terrain issues you describe are just quirks of the game...

Here is some info about manipulating the camera- http://www.strategycore.co.uk/forums/topic/6544-changing-camera-angles. The link to archived SS site has lots of info. While I know of no grid option, freeing the camera will help with determining LOS.

No clue why aimed shot would have a higher % than careful.

Yeah I clearly remember Aimed was @ 72%, and Careful @ 70%. Was really weird lol.

Thanks for the link and confirming everything else!
The odd accuracy could be 'cause of stance and weapon combo. Some weapons work better on certain stances. Also, characters get penalties if they have moved before shooting, which may clearly affect accuracy.
