jankomack: Hi everyone, I’ve contacted GOG Support about the cutscene color issue, and they replied with the following troubleshooting steps (text only, links removed):
[0] Please make sure that your Windows installation is most up to date.
[1] Please open the GOG GALAXY App, select the game and use the repair button which will be located next to the PLAY button (on the right) > Manage installation > Repair.
[2] Please install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package.
[3] If you are using Nahimic, please disable this audio software or uninstall it completely as it has proven to be problematic with many games.
[4] Please go to the game installation folder. If the game was installed via GOG GALAXY, select the game in GOG GALAXY, click the icon to the right of the PLAY button -> Manage Installation -> Show Folder. If the game was installed via offline installer, navigate to the default path C:\GOG Games\game-title. Once there, find the game’s executable, right-click it, choose Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and enable “Disable full screen optimization” and “Run as administrator”; click OK and try running the game again using the executable file.
[5] Please close all software that has an overlay (this can include: Radeon Software, Rivatuner Statistics Server, MSI Afterburner, Discord, FRAPS, OBS, programs from Adobe Suite, or diagnostic tools).
[6] Should the issues persist, please reinstall the game and add it to your anti-virus/firewall software’s exception/trusted list; install the game to a short path, for example: C:\GOG or C:\Games.
Hope this is useful for anyone troubleshooting.
All of this is snake oil. Just did it all. None of it works. It's worth noting that this also happens with the original 2004 PC release so this is not just an issue with GOG. Silent Hill 3 PC is also doing this now. Something in the September 2025 Windows Update appears to be the culprit.
