I'm getting constant freezing while playing. To the point where the sound keeps going but the picture will freeze. When this happens it sometimes locks up my computer completly, other times it basically kills the mouse from working. Anyone getting something similar?

I think the issue is related to or made worse by using an Xbox One controller. I had mine connected via blutooth and it seemed to freeze not long after starting the game. Plugged it in and got about 4 - 5 hous of play and now it has froze once again.

Just trying to figure out this is a common issue with this game...

Hmmm, doing some poking around it seems like this was common but I haven't seen anything recent about freezing. I am however finding reports about issues like freezing and/or mini hang ups in the new creators update which I am running. Might be related to that as I have noticed some issues when not in a game and I haven't really played anything other than Saints Row 4 recently.

Going to have to do some more troubleshooting... but thanks for the feedback.
I'm also getting sporadic freezing- Game freezes, then turns white for the screen but sound and apparently gameplay are still going.

No real idea what the cause is yet. I've had it with M+K and Xbone controller (via wireless dongle, not BT)
same problem here, but i'm not using a controller. i had this happen two times now during long missions :(

I just had this happen and had to kill the task from my second display since the game was blocking my task manager on the primary. This happened after an extended play session of several hours and locked up on a load screen (fortunately I had just saved). I also have a wired Xbox 360 gamepad connected.

Intel Core i7 4700MQ
32GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M w/2GB VRAM
Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Edit: I already completed Saints Row IV to 100% and in total it locked once on a load screen and twice upon exiting the game. The issues I experienced were probably just flukes related to the unstable nature of Windows in general and not related to what others are reporting in this thread, so I retract my complaint.

- a little update -

RX 480 user here...
i removed the 17.4.4 drivers and installed the 16.11.4 instead. that fixed the problem. no more crashes since... :D
for me this also fixed the crashes in Saints Row The Third.
Same here. Constant crashes, the game never runs longer than about 15 minutes. I have to kill it with the task manager when it happens.

Intel Core i7 4900k (not overclocked)
8 GB RAM
Radeon RX 480
Windows 7 64 bit

Whatever I do I can't get it to run properly. Not on low settings, not on highest settings. I updated my graphics driver, but to no effect.

Suggestions are welcome!
I'm another RX480 user with regular crashes to the desktop. It has happened with the 17.4 & 17.5 drivers. Everything worked fine in the first 3 mission areas, but once I reached modern Steelport and received the 'super powers' the game started to crash frequently. I played it on steam previously without any issues.

i5
16GB ram
rx480
windows 10 64bit
I had the same problem as u do. I was using a Power Color RX480 8G with Driver 17.6.2. i tried something like verifying the cache, etc, but nothing seemed to work, and the game just kept on freezing and crashing.
In consideration of the fact that Saint Row 4 is not a new game, i rolled back to Driver 16.9.2 yesterday. i have played for about 4 hours since the rolling back of the Driver........So far so good! No freezing or crashing. I will keep on testing.
i'm getting this freezing, too. game doesn't crash, but just stops moving. can alt-tab out, but the game is on top of everything, including task manager, so i can't End-Task the game :/ i can Ctrl-Alt-Delete to log out or shut down via power button. just can't close the game (even tried blind-end-tasking with Alt-E, but the game takes over focus over Task Manager)

Radeon Fury on 19.1.1. not sure i want to roll back as far as 2016...

nothing OC'd, i7-4790, 16GB, Seasonic X-650, game integrity scan is fine. i run distributed computing on CPU and GPU and have no rejects with either. 3DMark stress test passes fine
Yep, crashing regularly for me too and I'm on an RTX2080Ti.

Poor software written by an inept development team.
Same here, on rtx 2080 and ryzen 7 2700X.

I had the same problem when game first came out i came out
the problem i saw is the freezes are something to do with PSU power, The game causes your pc to crash
I did a lot of tests on other hardware i also disabled bios anti surge protector run loads of different games PC run perfectly soon as i started to play Saints Row 4 in certain parts it started to slow the game lag and then froze soon as it froze i had to Hard reset PC. Then i realised it didn't just crash it surged my motherboard it's either lack of power for the game badly optimised minimum or recommended specs from the devs so it's either CPU or GPU

edit:
So this is a Warning do not run this game on any PC
it's a mobo Killer

Please don't spread misinformation, that isn't how any of that works.

Also I'm running it just fine on both an i3-2120 + GTX 750 desktop and an i7-3520m laptop.
