I tried it and the result is still not as sattisfaying than the Gold version.
Rune Gold is definitively the best version to play.

Thank you, this worked out well for me in using Rune Classic. Sadly v1.11 never actually uses DirectX11 and still uses the outdated Direct3D 7 renderer from the original release, but using dgVoodoo 2 with the right configurations does remedy that without dealing with nagware from the unofficial DirectX 11 renderer.
