tigerwylde1: I agree with RosenCruz...a lot of times when I read people having issues with games it involves WinXP SP3. I wonder if there's something in XP, or the SP3, that is messing with the games?

damarcus: Regarding this case - why should a game released in 2001 not work under XP (the GOG version is stated as compatible with it), but with newer Windows versions and even under Linux with WINE, as in my case? I find this rather odd.
I will never understand Windows...there are some old games I have on disc that I was able to get running on Win7 that wouldn't work on XP (the Heroes of M&M 4 series comes to mind), just as there are now games that won't work on my Win7 machine that did on work on my XP machine.

Yeah, I can't get past a frozen launcher on my Win XP SP3 box, but the copy I played years ago on SP2 ran flawlessly.
Yep same here. Total freeze the second you hit the play button on the launcher. Windows XP again - absolutely no idea what SP number (how do you find out?)
Seems using Pure Faction works, for some, it did for me thankfully - but looking at thee posts its not working out for all. I think GOG should mention there is a problem for windows XP users and explain about this Pure Faction in the game's initial descriptions!

Control Panel -> System, actually very simple...
