I would like to know how I should save my character and import him into the game. When I first played it I saved it on the floppy disk and searched for the a drive. Now however I don’t have a a drive and I was wondering how I can go about this and what drives and files it will be under. I am not at all a computer techie and I will need some clear directions here. Thanks

Just save the export file to the C: drive. Dosbox does some funky stuff that makes the save file then appear in the QFG folder of whichever game you were playing. It will be a .sav file.

Copy and paste it to the folder of the game you want to import it to, and it will appear on the default list of files when you hit import. Just hunt through the list for the right name.

Thanksm, that answers it.
I'm using Windows 7 and I've tried the above solution and even tried to mount the hard drive directory for dosbox but for some reason I'm unable to find the .sav file for QFG1 VGA. I've even run searches through the start menu and I cannot find the character files. I really need help with this. I can load my saved games within QFG1 with no problem but I can't find the .sav file outside of the game.

Same here.... I've tried the above solution several times, and no luck. Please help!
You probably have UAC turned on in windows. Have a look at point 3 in the first post of the following threadhttp://www.gog.com/en/forum/quest_for_glory_series/export_and_import_faq

I had the similar problem too. Do the foilowing:

Go into "My Computer"

Access "OS (C:)"

Go to "Program Files (x86)"

Select "GOG.com" folder

Select "Quest for Glory Pack"

Go into "Quest for Glory 1" folder

Go into the "VGA" folder

Find your save file (I did this by Date modified) and then copy and paste that file into the other "QFG" folder!

Hope that works!

**Ugh, nevermind, I first tried importing my character using the file from above, but it wasn't "the proper format" or something along those lines. I even tried converting that file into a '.sav' but QFG 2 still wouldn't accept. SO frustrating.**

I copied the .sav file that now appears in the qfg1 file to my desktop. Then I dragged it into the qfg2 file. Once I started qfg2 it appeared in the default file list to import.
Hey y'all,

Is there a way to import my character using a macbook and dosbox?

My character supposedly saves at the end of qfg1 as file c:glory1.sav, but I can't locate it when I go to import into qfg2.

You'll have to move the file from the qfg1 directory to the qfg2 directory
I'm having issues importing my saved file on C:/ drive i didn't save it as C:/glory3.sav i used my character name then glory3.sav> i've read people saying you don't need the / just c:glory3.sav that was back in 2012. i am using windows 11 .

I'm really bad at giving tech advice, but one concern is that you may be using the wrong directional slash. Path names for files in these games use a backslash. I believe it should be "c:\", not "c:/". Certainly, I think I had that issue until I realized what I was doing wrong.

Did you try the advice from the post immediately above yours? This thread can refer to any of several games, so if you need more help, you need to tell us more about what happened. Did you name this glory3.sav because this character just completes Quest for Glory 3 and you are trying to take it to Quest for Glory 4? Are you playing all these games as shipped by GOG, or using ScummVM for any of them?
