Mac and Linux versions are planned for "later in 2021" and will of course be packed in with the Windows purchase, assuming they come to fruition. Meanwhile, protondb reports are quite positive.
I can just add the anecdotical report that it works perfectly fine in my Galaxy Wine bottle based on the Lutris 6.x Wine builds.

Still waiting for the linux native version, and I paid for it on the kickstarter... Of course, with DoubleFine being bought by microsoft, as expected the resources were diverted to the XBOX version, and Linux and Mac will come sometime in "winter 2021". I'm not expecting even the same quality/support anymore.

DoubleFine bought by Microsoft? Oh. How could I miss this one?
This explains everything - the unjustifiable high price, the no-linux-or-mac-yet, etc.
And this also means they will probably tune-up some (crappy) compatibility layer to run their code on non/MS platforms (I don't expect a conversion anymore), just because there is people who paid for it, but I am very, very pessimistic about to see a Psychonauts 3 or any other future DoubleFine product run natively on my Linux PC.

Just an update, we've now blown all promised delivery dates for the Linux and Mac versions, (last promise was Q1 2022), but one month ago they stated they are still working on it:
- If you are getting a physical copy of the game, we need to know if you want it on PC, Mac, or Linux! Yes, those last two things are real and we have been working on them at the studio. We take their quality seriously and have been doing our utmost to make sure that Mac and Linux versions meet our personal standards.

Mac and Linux versions are finally available!!!
The Linux Version is broken. I refunded immediately.

The only thing that I got for my money was an Intro Video and a Black Screen afterwards.
And I was forced to hard reset my PC after a minute of patience.
Never had that in the last decade with a game but since it's made by a Microsoft Subsidiary, Fraud is built-in apparently.
Fwiw, the linux version "worked" for me, but stuttered so bad I returned the game. This is supposedly due to shader caching and how unreal engine just does it on the fly. While this may work for games where you visit maps repeatedly (multiplayer games), you really need to pre-cache for singleplayer games. Otherwise, you experience stuttering throughout most of your playthrough.

This was "fixed" in some early patch notes, and my version was well ahead of that patch, but it was still a stuttery mess. I dropped settings down to the lowest, played with display options, etc...nothing helped. According to proton.db most people say the native version is bad and just play with proton. A shame.
