Hello,
my HOTAS setup for my Virpil Control input devices does not work really well. The setup consists of a VPC Constellation ALPHA-R grip with a VPC WarBRD Base and a VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle.
Setting up the axes as well as curves and dead areas works well. During the subsequent check under calibration, however, I noticed that the joystick and throttle produced a full deflection almost digitally in the millimeter range. So one can hardly speak of a calibration. Joystick and throttle work without problems in MS Flight Simulator 2020, IL-2 Sturmovik and DCS World which I tested directly afterwards (already thought wtf?).
I then repeated the procedure again but always got the same result what the game currently gives me in an unplayable state.

Your not alone. There are a number of people with this same issue on the Steam forums. It doesn't seem to be specific to a certain stick model or manufacturer. Your stick is probably fine. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. Im not playing this game with a gampad when I have a HOTAS + Pedals.

OFF TOPIC:
I have never seen that Virpil thing before. Have you used a Warthog before? I was kind of interested in getting one of those. This Virpil thing looks very interesting though. If you have used both, then I would love your thoughts on what one is better.

Thanks for your answer, I went through the Steam forums at the time of the beta and was really impressed by the comments. Since then I hadn't looked in there because I wanted to buy the game DRM-free here on GoG.
At least your comment gives me hope for improvement.

Before ages I had several Microsoft Sidewinder joysticks with thrust control up to Fore Feedback, everything in such good quality that I still have an MS Sidewinder joystick with USB with me. When I was interested in flight simulators again after a long time, I first started with the MS Sidewinder and then looked at exactly the Thrustmaster Warthog mentioned in comparison with Virpil Controls (VPC) and VKBController (possibly a good address for you in the USA) and read a lot about problems with the respective systems.
Especially with the Warthog, the base of the joystick is not good and causes problems (however, you can also use the grip with a base from VPC, for example; quite a few do that). There are so many threads and comments on the internet that I save myself another elaboration. The throttle, on the other hand, is said to be very good with the Warthog (I read about a small modification there which should make it even better).
What I liked about the VPC is that they give the prices tax-free for shipping outside the EU; you may then pay tax on import. Regarding the quality and function, I have nothing to complain about. A plus for me is still the twist (Z-axis) on the joystick, which still saves me pedals (which will come at some point).
Found out about this game yesterday and was excited at first - then I read about the problems with using a HOTAS.
Holding off from buying for now .. maybe they will fix the issues and then I think I´ll get it.

I am using a FFB2 and a X55 throttle with MFG pedals for DCS, IL2, etc. but thinking about a Virpil stick and throttle as they look really nice and have a lot of functionality.
Good news! An update that fixes this issue is now available.
