Here is my second, and hopefully last tech question on Postal 2 (Thanks again Starkrun for helping with the first.)
When playing Postal 2 AWP, it plays wonderful but about every 1-3 hours it decides to crash on me for some random reason or another. Each time the reason for the crash looks different but when I click on the 'Submit Bug' button on the actual dialog it takes me to RWS website, and says this is a 'known collision problem'. Which gave me hope, but none of RWSs support pages work anymore. So I checked here on GoG, and another person on this forum had problems with random crashing, and changed the 'Head/Limb Fix' in-game options for AWP (as he had done). He said this fixed the problem.
However I changed both of these options and saw that it didn't do anything in my case as I am still experiencing the crash. Which makes me sad :( Dudes I may cry... Does anyone have an answer or something to try???
System Specs:
2.8 GHz AMD X25400 Dual Core CPU
4 GB RAM
256 MB GeForce Card

Might be a long shot but i read that you can patch the game that solves that problem.

This is the long awaited patch for those of you who enjoyed Postal 2 but simply could not stand the load times. Not only does it resolve those lengthy transitions between parts of the towns but tons of new content is added as well including an intricate sewer system full of Middle Eastern terrorists. New difficulty levels, new cheats, more bloodshed, it's all included.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bug Fixes:
1000000 iterations in PrepPawnSlider function crash fixed.
"triggered a bug in the DirectX 8.1 runtime" crash fixed on most machines.
Collision-related crashes fixed.
Changed error messages to refer to postal2.ini instead of ut2003.ini.

Thanks for the reply CyPhErloN, but that's a description from the 1337 patch. My STP game is 1409 (This is the version that comes from GoG and is completely up to date according to RWS.)
Do you get glitches by any chance?
Like things that get stuck to your mouse , strangely coloured surfaces ingame?
Your in a classy community so we are all trying to help ;)

Well, no real noticeable glitches... The only thing that really strikes me right off the top of my head is that I notice I get stuck a lot. As in, stuck to the point where I can't move the 'Dude' and the game has to intervene. Which now that I think about it, that would be classified as another type of 'Collision Problem.' That's interesting.
As a side note to a possible fix, I found a member on a GameSpot forum that had exactly the same issue (Except his was on a XP x86 machine), and he seemed to find relief by turning the Body Count/Corpses set to 0 and Bystanders to 30. It had something to do with the Gib Count per area. Which I also tried but still crashed with the same problem as earlier. This happened almost immediately. I would like to believe that it did at least help some, though by the time I found this out I had worked my way to Friday (in an AWP 7 game) and had switched to Saturday by the time I had decided to stop playing today (had too much work!). So I don't know really how far (if any) this may have helped.
Also, I probably should have made it clear that I am using cheats (God Mode, all weapons, JewsForJesus, and AmmoWhore extensively.) As well as the 'DoubleTrouble' cheat which gives the Sawed-Off Double Barrel Shotgun. Now that I think about it, I enabled this particular cheat around the time that I started having problems. This could be the source, since I use that shotgun almost exclusively (it's so powerful) and it makes targets explode which would raise the Gib Count by a lot. But I think I would still have the same problem with any weapon that disembowels like say the Machete, or Clever. I may try my next time through the game to go without my new favorite weapon but that would suck :(
Anyway to sum up an overly lengthy post, I'm glad to be a part of this classy community :) GoG is like a Godsend. I like the games and love the atmosphere (It's always fun to be around like minded people.) Since I am new here I've been trying to become more active and meet some of my fellow gamers outside of my stupid tech questions LOL. Everyone's been incredibly patient and very helpful... GoG Rules!!!
Thanks CyPhErloN!
hmmz , i've played through the game numerous times and yes i also got the problem of getting stuck in the scenery.
Usually it solved itself by being whacked by a grenadelauncher which , well , launched me in the air :) getting me out of my sticky place.
It might be an idea to try not to use cheats but they're not included in the game to just crash on you when using it. Who doesn't love the double barrel shotgun. It's just great to splatter them around. (just like the senseless driving over of pedestrians in carmageddon :) only to ghet a splatter bonus )
The old games tend to have problems with Vista OS. One of the reasons why i ranted in a few posts about it. So i won't repeat myself.
Stick around m8. There's always new classics to discover over here.
cheers

Well it's been three days, and I finally beat the game, but it was still crashing. :( I'm going to leave this open in case someone else has a solution or at the very least the same problem. Anyone.... ?
Thanks CyPhErloN, I think I will stick around :) Where was this rant? I would like to read it, and I'm kind of shocked Carmageddon isn't on GoG already, what a great game :D
always a pleasure
Hi, all.
If you're talking about the game crashing then leaving a popup that starts General Protection Fault then gives a length of jargon and codes, then I've encountered it too.I encountered this more than hourly with the AWP mod but whddya want with a free mod...)
I got the impression from the modder's site that (if I understood) the original game already was pushing the limits of the game engine and some of the new cheats were beyond design specs.
I think, for example, that the original dozen or so people we saw over and over were about all the game could safely track. Adding new clothes, hats, etc. (not to mention the dervish-cat cannon and moon gravity mode...) were enough to "tip" the balance occasionally.
As to the lack of support from RWS, I am not surprised: this is the work of a private citizen, provided free of charge, not RWS's (or GOG's) province (and maybe not proper for either company to even comment on a third party's work.
I have played enough with the P2 editor to get an idea how much effort and time the author put into remaking the game and having it run at all (I program C++, Visual Basic, and MHTML and I think it would take me weeks just to learn enough about this game engine to identify all the changes the author made. Plus he gave us holy-handgrenades...That was a good laugh just in itself.)
I just got in the habit of saving every 20 min or so. It's a good habit: I paid a lot for Office and Comeau and still have to save often and make backup copies daily. I think a fun addon to a six dollar game can be given a break.
If you would like more info try http://www.moddb.com/mods/eternal-damnation. This mod seemed stable, and has links to AW7 patches and posts, too.

Edit: Almost forgot the most basic thing. Do you know to set the Options Performance Manual setting then check Head Fix and Limb Fix. If that doesn't help try under Options Game uncheck Blood and Gore (I know, but...)
These should reduce the number of "gibs" which can crash the game by making too many objects to keep track of.
Also there is a patch for AW7, and an unofficial patch 1407x or something...
