Postal was the first game I downloaded from GoG.com and it was very well worth it! I initially installed it on my WinVista Ultimate machine at work and it ran flawlessly.
I figured the true test would be to see if it ran on my Windows 7 Evaluation copy at home. Since GoG.com's forums are a little wierd (ie. only set up for pertaining to games) I couldn't find any info on Windows 7 (GoG.com - anyday you want to say Windows 7 is cool with all our games and/or we will promise to support it via updates/patches or whatever = total WIN!)
Sure enough, I launched the game twice and crashed instantly, then I toggled the settings to run as Admin and to run in Windows Vista compatibility mode. the game launched fine, then crashed again. Re-booted (my wife was using some funky Citrix stuff for work) and the game ran fine.
However, the one wierd glitch I didn't get at work that I got at home was that bullets weren't coming out my gun even though it was firing. This was very wierd.
Is anyone else out there using Windows 7...are there any more tricks to getting this GoG.com games to run perfectly?? I know there are some color setting's in the Properties you can choose, but who knows...
Strange... in my experience Vista compatability modes run anything made to work on XP flawlessly (games wise). It's odd Windows 7 would have a problem...
Hopefully 7 isn't a step back in terms of compatability, as I am quite happy with Vista in that regard.
7 won't be compatible with more games than Vista, and if anything will be compatible with less, but until it's a full product, and released, GOG has no reason to support beta software.
Don't use beta software for production.

I'm running the Windows 7 beta right now and I installed Postal from GOG and ran it with no trouble at all. Perhaps you're having an issue with a display driver or something else. It plays perfectly fine on my end and I haven't even ran it in compatibility mode.
@StingingVelvet: 7 is a step back in no way whatsoever. In fact, its the best thing to happen to computer OS's ever (well maybe flawed for gaming (as always), but I have a $300 e-machine, haven't run games since Half-Life, so gog.com is a breath of fresh air with their guarantee these classics will play)
@Weclock: you can't deny that its coming...
@Kelthuron: yeah, i tried it several more times, leaving my compatibility modes the way they were. I turned the gamma in the game and eventually saw the bullets, they were tiny. The game has run great!
My bad y'all, it was my first noob post, don't blame me!

I'm not denying that it's coming, many places don't support 7 officially yet, because as soon as you write those drivers, or program that code, something is going to change to break it, and the platform hasn't gone retail yet.
Just because it's coming doesn't mean you should support it now, or use it as a tool.
And don't take it as I'm being mean, I'm just being factual.

That's what a Release Candidate is for though, it's 'feature complete' - the only thing they'll change at this point is something that's buggy, to fix it. They're not totally changing the driver package, the API's or anything else. That way people can start developing for it (and help find bugs as they go) and be on the path of ready for release when the final product comes out!

that's how it should be, but it doesn't mean it's how it will be.
