I have tried everytrhing, and I mean everything, to get my CD copy of Port Royale to launch on windows flippin' 10 and no dice.

If I buy the GOG download, will I be able to run it on my 64 bit Windows 10 machine ?

Thanks for help in advance.
It runs for me, but has a grey screen when I exit. So I just uninstalled it after giving up, since I cannot exit, and it scrolls way too fast.

Edit to add: There is a /windowed command line option that allows it to run in a window, but if I touch or move the window at all, it messes up and nothing works. But I could play it in the window if I wanted. It's too small for my old eyes though.

I run it on Windows 10 with no problem. I have set it to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP Service Pack 2.

However I can't get it to play in Windowed mode.

how did you do that. i can't find the file so i can change it to run in compatibillity mode on :S
Works fine for me right after installation, didn´t change a thing. The "grey screen" when exiting the game can be tabbed away and then closed, no problem. Don´t know why this should be a reason for uninstalling the game..

And for the poster above me: when using galaxy, you can always select "show folder" just in case you forgot where you did install the game...

davmof,

I would say out of your description, because you used your pinky finger.

Otherwise, provide more info, or do you expect us to know all? :O
Windows 10 I7 16gb nvidia card
It works fine for me on win 10 64 bit.
The grey screen after exiting a game is also what i experienced. i alt+f4 out of the game then.

It seems your problem is related to a resolution problem.

Have you tried changing stuff in the nvdia control center

(for example: scale resolution or similar phrasing (i have no english version)? It allows old game with tiny windows due to low resolution to be scaled to a modern high resolution.)
Ah, The first Port Royale indeed has problems with resolution but now I forgot (been quite many years since I played last time) whether it wants a specific resolution or the same as the desktop or something else.
