Hi,

I'm curious as to why the Knock spell doesn't seem to do anything. I know the spell description says that it doesn't work against barred doors and such - for those the game usually provides a clear floating text message.

However, I've tried opening various containers and doors with it, and I don't think I've seen it work once.

The cursor does change over the container, TNO does walk to said container, the spell is cast AND there's no message to suggest it failed. But when I click on the container, it's still locked!

Same goes for most doors I've tried to unlock with it; no failure message, but nothing happens. Spell gets wasted, and I just end up opening it with Annah's lockpicks or Dak'kon's strength. (Which is fine, of course.)

Is the Knock spell even supposed to work every time? Or is it bugged?

Thanks!

Actually I noticed this too - but I only tried a few doors/containers before figuring it was useless and just getting someone to lockpick or bash it instead. And I'm pretty sure that Knock definitely DID work in the original game, unless of course that was in a parrellel dimension or I'm misremembering things.

I do vaguely recall that it doesn't work every time - I think it does a dice roll or equivalent against the strength of the lock or something along those lines. But I also vaguely recall that in the original, I could get everything to open eventually using Knock (that I tried)...

Thanks for the reply!

Your experiences are similar to mine. I was later informed that the Knock spell acts as a player-based AoE, but I haven't had the time to try that out yet.

Yeah I read the stuff about AOE, but even when cast "in range" of one or more containers I don't recall it working reliably in the EE. I honestly don't recall it being AOE in the original - either that or it was still possible to "target" it (which isn't the case in the EE since it uses player position?).
