Hello all, I'm contemplating buying this as I can't seem to find my original disc anymore, and feel like a nostalgia blast.

Can anyone tell me what mods/updates are included in EE? It seems that Quinns Fixpack is, what about Tweaks? And the store page mention 4k UI, is that the same as Bigg's/Ghostdogs UI mods?

I remember installing the original a while ago and there was a long list of mods like Unfinished Business (which I see has been updated for EE) - am I better off installing the original with all my preferred mods, or am I likely to get a better experience with EE with with a few additions?

Thanks for any help,

Puns

The rule of thumb with PST EE is "fixes are included, changes aren't". Also it's the least changed one among the EEs. Not unexpectedly tbh.

As for 4k, I've got a 4k 27" and played EE just a few months back. Works without a hitch (in this regard at least). Seriously doubt you would get the same results with UI mod, though admittedly the last time I used it (and the 20 yo executable itself) was many years ago. I remember it being horribly unstable even with 1680x1050. Then there're fonts ofc, and the reworked main UI (good riddance to the radial menu). Really, it's hard to come up with a reason why EE wouldn't be preferable in any and all regards.
I wouldn't say there aren't some (special) people that wouldn't try (I expect them to show up in this thread).

Not sure what you mean with "preferred mods" - is it about purely technical, or the gameplay ones as well? As for those mods that do stuff like "stackable this, sellable that, etc" I *strongly* believe this game doesn't need them, whichever version. But having played EE lately *it* certainly doesn't. But it's not about version, it's about, well, gameplay, the way PST is intended to be played.

UB aside EE doesn't need mods at all IMO. As for UB, it's debatable, though I did install it that last time I've played. Be warned tho, you'd better install the Generalised biffing mod if you're going to add UB to the EE, or you're likely to hit a SNAFU late in the game. Not an unrecoverable one (with Near Infinity for example), but its severity may vary.

It's a very "conservative" EE, a remastered rather than a remake (thankfully, I'd add). There are a few QoL improvements (I believe quickloot wasn't in the original, and controls were streamlined a bit), but the "boldest" changes (like character outlines and touchscreen-friendly interface) are de-activated by default and clearly marked as EE additions in the settings screen.

As Ravel Puzzlewell would put it: "What can change the nature of a game? Not these changes."

this post is a prime example of mindless hive-mind FUD
ofcourse the fcukin quickloot wasn't there 20 yrs ago, touch-screen friendly has nothing to do with anything at all and outlines are just QoL and enabled by default.
oh, and it's sped up by default too! horrible.

All the EEs are mostly about QoL and fixes. Don't let the (anti)hype get you.

I'd reply if I had any idea what you're angry about.
I told OP that the game has very minor changes over the original, which is the truth. I said it's a good thing, and that's my opinion. I got one very minor fact wrong, I didn't remember the outlines and the speed-up were enabled by default, which I'm fairly sure is not a crime under any jurisdiction (had I remembered that, I would've suggested OP to disable them); and I told OP that the "boldest" changes are easy to identify in the options screen, so people who want the vanilla experience can get it.

Now, let's not argue further since poor Bigpuns just wanted an opinion and we both agree that EE is a great way to enjoy the base game on a modern system.

So, the Unfinished Business mod is already included in the Enhanced Edition?
