LiefLayer: I really don't know why you and throgh want to convince me that this is not a scam (from gog I think).
I'm not trying to convince you of anything. I'm simply shining a light on your warm personality.
LiefLayer: if I already have the original game I see no other solution.
for BG 1-2 and IWD EE there was a key for that reason.
I see no reason to change that.
Like I said I don't care about the price, I care about the lost value of my original purchase.
If you already own the original game you aren't losing any value to your original purchase. It's like saying I purchased Super Mario 3 on the NES and the Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES made me lose value on my original purchase. I can also extend that analogy to say that why shouldn't I get a discount on that bundle since I already own a copy of the first.
The logic doesn't make sense. If the developer or GoG decide to give you a free key with your purchase that's a win for you. But if they don't, your original purchase has not been impacted whatsoever.
LiefLayer: I always wait after release to buy something so I was lucky... but if I had bought Planescape Torment EE pre-order I would be screw because how would I know that this time it was different?
they said nothing about "you don't get a key this time if you already own the game".
And you're a smart consumer for waiting. NEVER pre-order something unless you know for a fact that no matter how things play out you'll be certain that you'll be happy with your purchase. If there are ANY questions at any point, then don't pre-order. The developer or GoG still came through on their promise. I can play the original version as well as the EE edition. My purchase and expectations (and also of many other consumers) were completely met. How they deliver on that promise, their method for doing so, is completely up to them. The consumer (myself) still received what is being paid for.
LiefLayer: Anyway if you want to continue argue you can, but I don't see the point. What I want is an aswer from the "Beamdog representative", a public answer so that I can post this answer to my friends forum. I don't see the point in make a new account on beamdog forum since there is already a "Beamdog representative" here.
My point was already made from the first post.
You received an answer from the representative. An easy solution is to simply send your friend a link to this thread. Your friend can see for him/herself what the representative has stated.
Yakkuz: There is, and that's the point:
They changed their policy for previous EEs (same developer\publisher, same marketing, same bundling) without clearly saying it to the customers. A simple reminder on checkout or a note on the store page telling "You will note receive a key if you already own the original game" would have solved the issue perfectly.
I do agree with you there though. More clarity would have satisfied a lot more people. A simple reminder at checkout or even on the store page would have avoided a few headaches.
