Hello! I'm having a major problem with this game.
I bought it today out of boredom, installed it, installed all mods from the Gog's sticky thread (which took me about 20 minutes) and when I finally start up the game: it's pitch f***ing black. I can only hear the game's sound and that's pretty much it.

I'm on Windows 8.1 x64 (which is supported by Gog themself)
I have the latest drivers for pretty much every hardware in my PC.

Please help me. I've heard so much good about this game and the screenshots looks darn awesome.
But if it continues to fail on me, I'll demand a refund.

A similar issue described here was fixed with restarting the PC. If that doesn't help, you could try reinstalling it without mods and see if it works that way, but generally mods shouldn't cause video issues.

Restart: didn't work
Clean, unmodified install: didn't work

Filing refund ticket.
Try to install this - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Done that earlier already, but thanks for the tip nevertheless.

Run setup-ddrawfix.exe in the game's directory and try the three different modes, especially option 3 "Use WineD3D's DDraw Library".

You might need to run it as administrator to work (right-click setup-ddrawfix.exe and select "Run as administrator").
It works! :D
But... I tried this earlier because Gog told me so in a mail and it didn't work then.

Well, that's the magic of the subforum, it only works if told here! ;-D
Have fun, it's a great game.
I will :) Thanks again

I don't see that file in the game directory, but am indeed getting the black screen on boot. Windows 7.

Edit: After 8 minutes 30 seconds minutes the Beamdog logo finally displayed. Added Torment.exe manually to my list of trusted files in my anti-virus, we will see if that works.
Edit edit: OK that seems to have worked. IDK why the timeout of my antivirus is so long, active scanning shouldn't be enabled. Thanks for nothing, COMODO!

This thread is about the original version of Planescape Torment, not Beamdog's Enhanced Edition - two different games ;-)
