For a while I was encountering random crashing in this game. I searched around this forum and while I could find plenty of people that had the same issue, I could never find a definitive solution for it.

Turns out the issue is related to the widescreen mod and there was a source update back in 2013 that fixed this issue. Many people seem to not know about it due to it never getting released on the main site that GOG links to in the MOD Spotlight article.

UPDATE: It looks like a new version of the installer came out (3.0.6)

No need for the bottom info I guess.

Here it is.
https://github.com/vbigiani/widescreen
Download the archive as a zip.
Once that is done, follow these instructions, taken from this post on shsforums
http://www.shsforums.net/topic/37824-please-report-crashes-here/page-12#entry557356

copy the widescreen folder to your Toment folder
(not the widescreen-master folder)
so to pick a file at random...
widescreen-master.zip\widescreen-master\widescreen\core.tpa
would become something like:
C:\games\torment\widescreen\core.tpa.

get a copy of weidu.exe http://www.weidu.org/main.html#weidu
place weidu.exe in your torment folder
rename weidu.exe to setup-widescreen.exe
run setup-widescreen.exe

There seems to be problems moving saved games from old version of the widescreen to the new...
Make sure you have a backup of any saved games
Figured a thread here on GOG outlining this would prove useful to some, because I know it would have been useful for me a while back.

This fixed my perma-crashing on exiting Mebbeth's house, thanks!

I noticed that when I selected "Reinstall" after running setup-widescreen, it actually reinstalled all my mods, not just widescreen.

Edit: Unfortunately I'm still seeing some crashing as I change areas, but it seems to be more random and I'm not getting stuck.

The only advice I can think of is to clear out your cache folder.
Hope that helps.

Fixed my problem too. Thanks very much
Funny, after checking the official site again, it appears as though an official update to the installer was posted shortly after I made this topic.

I guess the above information is no longer needed.
