So I'm wondering if anyone has gotten any of those prisoner requests for a "rare item" as the wiki says. I've got a person who's come by for Nyrid and I want to know if I should hold onto him for that rare items or if I should just turn him over.
I think having prisoners at the moment is only cosmetical so trading one for a rare item is a good bargain :)

Sorry, I should have specified. I have the distant relative option open, but it's only for gold, not the item.
Nyrid? The orlan on the run in Dyrwood Village?

I believed her and let her go. And then slaughtered the hooded House Doemenal agents who gave me the quest .... I had already slaughtered everyone in Doemenal Manor anyway, after not accepting their 2nd quest (then stealing the quest item they wanted afterwards to keep for myself;)

I'm just wingin it though, not sure if I'm making the most profitable choices (xp wise) ..... thats what 2nd playthroughs are for

Nah, Nyrid is the drug dealing posing at Purnisc. You meet him pretty early on in Defiance Bay. I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten any requests for these prisoners in return for rare items.

Nyrid is sleeping with thee fishes in Defiance Bay harbour in my playthrough. Didn't even have the prison when I put him to the sword. What can I say, Woedica's justice is merciless. :)
Hm, so nobody has gotten any items in exchange for any of the prisoners?
I haven't built the prison yet, I'm building in order down the list (after the defensive builds). I think I'm almost to it.

Just for looks though, as i Take No Prisoners.

From what I've read about the prison/prisoners, it doesn't seem to have any purpose and the prisoners usually escape anyway.

Or maybe you just stumbled upon it's purpose ......

I'd make the trade.
I thought I built the prison pretty early, but I only got two prisoners through my game. One of those I sold for coin and the other unceremoniously escaped, almost immediately after I captured him. I never saw any item offers.
I'm thinking we may need to build the barracks and hire some soldiers to prevent them from escaping. It makes sense. No matter how sturdy a dungeon, if there are no minders to watch over the prisoners, they will run away. Maybe they offer rare items after some time spent in the prison.

I doubt it. With all upgrades completed and a full eight hirelings, over 30 prestige and over 40 security, I still lose most of my taxes to bandits.

Stronghold = broken.

I'm still not sure how work the tax event, the amount to generate is in one part random, that I know but the amount lost to bandits I'm not sure. Only one time I had lost more to the thefts and was when the number of hireling was very low.

However, I had never a prison break in my case. Still not sure what to do with the prisoners, many are dangerous and still selling them as slaves is.... not for my PC.

Nope.
Never even heard of that till you mentioned it.

There's only two ways that I know of to get rare items, related to stronghold; They are through the bounties and the endless paths.

Yeah I've gotta agree there.

Mm, I remember that as soon as I gor my first prisoner, I was low on money after buying something and while debating what to do and where to go, some slaver from wherever-it-was arrived at the fortress and offered to buy the prisoner in order to experiment for 1200 coins or so.

Quickest sell I ever made.

I got one unique sword at one time, and have no idea where it was from - it was not in the treasury chest, but in one of the vases near the entrance. So maybe that was in exchange for that one prisoner.
