Hello there.
Recently (a day ago) i bought Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire - Obsidian Edition.
During one hour of playtime (since today) i had 4 crashes:
Crash no.1: As soon as i started playing the game (right after your character needs to go out and face pirates). A report of the crash was generated.
Crash no.2: Entering Kraken's Eye (tavern in Port Maje) via southern entrance. A report of the crash was not generated, i immediately ended up looking at my desktop.
Crash no.3: Exiting Kraken's Eye, again via southern entrance. A report of the crash was generated.
Crash no.4: Exiting Port Maje jail. A report of the crash was generated.
In conclusion, the crashes are happening when i'm changing zones, either exiting or entering.
In order to fix the crashes myself i visited the "Stability issues" section of the support page, more specifically "Crashing in general" subsection. Everything i did there did not help resolve the issue. I also changed several video settings, for example disabling vsync (which was already disabled) but again, no effect.
I would very much like to give it a go with various fixes in order to mend this issue because i really want to play this game. However, if there isn't a way to solve the problem i have no choice but to activate Money Back Guarantee Policy because having 4 crashes in 1 hour of playtime is unacceptable.
i tried to attach zip file containing dxdiag and crash reports but apparently i'm unable to do so.
I sincerely hope someone can help me.
Best regards.

You're probably better off getting in touch with GOG support itself as this is just a forum page which support rarely (if at all) visit. Anyway, here is the link and at the bottom is a 'Contact Us' button whereby you can send the crash reports and your dxdiag file so support actually see it;

Hope this helps and good luck.

Sounds like you have a problem unrelated to the game itself... In any event, you need to frequent the Obsidian forums, as they are the game's developers--GOG is merely a distributor of the game. Here's where you need to go for answers:

Been there, done that.
I've been contacted by the devs when i've sent all of my crash reports and according to devs it appears that the issue lies with the game trying to free up unused memory by dumping information it no longer needs and that something in this process is going the wrong way and causing a crash. there are also other players who have the same issue and devs are trying to fix this but apparently to this day the issue isnt fixed. i've been reading recent patch notes and i haven't seen anything in regards to fixing this problem.

Hi! I ran into a similar problem after setting up a new system. The problem originates from the game engine (unity). The only fix that worked for me is to undervolt the GPU with a programm called MSI Afterburner. Important is, that you have to set the curve on around 1240 MHZ and make sure to apply the change.
