You get a passive talent called "Gift from the Machine" giving you +1 Might and +5% Endurance.

Which is quite nifty if you can live with being a cruel bastard. ^^

When you go to Icantha's house, there are some prisoners in another room. If you rescue them and send them to the tower, Aldhelm dines on them.

Yes but how do you earn the bonuses??? you eat the souls from the machine?
Hmm, I wondered what those prisoners were for. I freed them on my first visit to Icantha, before I had access to the tower, and her dialogue options never changed or anything. I always found that odd. I even "force" fought her, beat her, then she just resurrected herself and nonchalantly asked if was done having my fun and went back to her business. No knew dialogue options then either.

I'd happily be a little evil if it meant a permanent +1 to Might ..... I'll have to remember this for my next playthrough.

I'm assuming after you visit the tower there is a dialogue option with the prisoners to send them there?

If you have sent the prisoners to Aldheim, he will offer you another way to end the quest, ie. by consuming the energy from the machine. You gain the bonuses by interacting with the machine, and a new option will be unlocked.

Sorry man... Bad Inglish.
At the ending of the game, it was another machine you have to decide what to do.
Can you empower yourself with the souls contained in that machine? there is an option to do that?

No, sadly not, or else it has been hidden so deep within a secret ending that it has yet to be discovered. I'm heavily leaning towards the first answer. ;)
