Help! ;-)

I'm running the latest version of Pharaoh Gold (installer 2.0.0.12) on Windows 7 x64, with 8 Gb of RAM, and it's running too fast for me to play. The messages come thick and fast (talk about inundations!), and between those the locator keeps flicking down to the bottom right of the world view, so I'm constantly in the reed swamps. By the time I move the viewer back to my village, another message from the priests has appeared on my screen, and then before I can place a building or a well, I'm back to the swamps.

Am I doing something wrong? What have I missed?

I'm finding this pretty well unplayable at its current tempo.

Any help would be appreciated.

That's because the standard speed setting is at 100% -- close everything, move the mouse to the top, go to display, speed settings and set it to about 60%. This isn't a problem of this version, it was also a problem with the old Pharaoh I had on CD :-).
Also, the [ and ] keys speed up/down the game. and P pauses. Very useful.
Ahh, folks, thanks so much for your help. Very much appreciated !

That's not true, when I had Pharaoh installed on my PC [from the CD copy], it was always set to 90% GS and about 70% SS on a clean install. The issue here is that GOG set it to 100% for both options for some unknown reason.
