I bought the game last September and it never worked; same was with the Steam version. Somehow with my rig the game used to freeze and then CTD on starting a new game. I reached for the tech support from both retailers and they never solved that problem for me then offered refund each time which I took the opportunity of. Now I am thinkin whether the game might have changed for better for me after a few apparent updates since September. I like giving the GOG proiority eachh time due to their f**k DRM policy. The question is - if the game is going to fail to work for me again and the tech support at loss what to do to remedy that, will I be entitled to yet another refund?

If you want to make sure, ask support before you make your purchase. I'd be inclined to believe that you'd be able to get a refund, but I don't know for certain.
Yeah, thanks a lot, that was also my suspicion - or impression if you like, but I thought it never hurts to ask. Actually, i just dropped in to close the topic, I went ahead, bought the game and it was indeed ptached and optimized enough to start working properly for me, I downloaded and checked that earlier in the afternoon so I can ... er ... experience the inevitability of the plague ...

You're welcome. If it does turn out to break, they have a new policy in place that means that you can get refunds more easily than before. The game is much better optimised now, however, so there should be no need for that.

If you end up enjoying Pathologic 2, I can recommend giving The Void a go afterwards. It's a very different and unique game made by the same team and it's on sale right now.
Aw, yes, thanks for the recommendation; I have heard about and seen "the Void" before, I guess I even had that on my wishlist here some time ago. The case is I allowed myself to get talked into buying "Pathologic" some two and a half years ago, but I have never really played that, neither in its entireity nor to a higher degree. Not that I haven't tried or could not see a potential in this game, it just didn't click in its place at all. So I scrapped the idea of giving "The Void" a go just to try that out ... But when I launched "Pathologic 2" yesterday and got back to that today ... Well, I am trully impressed, the change is definitely there and mind you - I am not easily deceived by any visual fireworks from the video department even though the aesthetics there are truly splendid. The much need relief were conversations - they are definitely much more cohesive and convincing now - I have always had an impression when it comes to dialogues in "Pathologic" that I was given the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle to unscramble them and put back in their place to get some meaning behind the story they are to provide, but those pieces were all from different sets - they either didn't match or when they did they didn't add up. Here I can see that all of the puzzles alt least seem to be from the same set and that was the moment I did finally fell into enchantment I have only been hearing and reading about up until now.
