Snowfire: I just want to say thank you for all the work you have done, both for the builds we have, and all the ones that we may never see.
Seconded. I just signed up so I could monitor the thread because your concept of being effective the whole game instead of just a theoretical powerhouse at late game is perfect. I don't have time to do the theory-crafting and testing and appreciate your efforts and willingness to share.

Hey is it cool if I convert some of these for my walkthrough guide? I've converted all of InEffect's with his permission but would like to add some of yours where his are lacking (the Amiri build for example).

I posted them for them to be shared, feel free to repost, change/ tinker with as much as you'd like. Though I don't find most places prefer my style of building.

Well, in my humble opinion, most places are wrong then. :p
I prefer builds that fit the personality of the character over '+12 Hackmaster' builds (sure, those have merit, it's just not for me).

And I say this as someone who has difficulty changing weapons on characters based on their portraits (or if a non-optimal piece of equipment has lore significance to a character).

Ah, so it's not just me, then......

Been thinking we should have a design a build around a portrait thread. Particularly since there's a couple of very large collections of such on nexus...

Off-Topic, but is your name a reference to Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen? Cuz if so: Nice.

Yes it is. Massive fan of the series, been a while, but thinking of a re-read.

Was almost up to Act 3 in kingmaker before EE was announced, which somewhat killed my current game, as I wanted to wait and use the new features - so I spent 2 weeks trying to put together a Vorcan build: Dual weild daggers (or dageer like weapons), also really good at magic and an assassin.

Wasn't convinced totally by anything I came up with.

I feel your pain. I've taken a lot of inspiration from these books in my P&P-roleplaying as well. Some of the greatest stuff doesn't translate well to d20 (the awesomeness that is the sappers for instance).

Back on topic:

@Roahin: Do you have any advice in regards to using Jubilost and Kaessi effectively? Is single-classing them a viable option for the late game? I'm especially stumped on Kaessi. She usually ends up with her regular blast on autocast, I feel like I'm missing a lot of potential there (at least we can respec now). I understand if a complete build is not forthcoming as I imagine the amount of research required is quite time-consuming. But some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking, Jubilost is one of those characters that doesn't require any multiclassing to be effective throughout the game. Alchemist scales pretty well from beginning to end.

As far as Kalikke and Kanerah, that's a bit more complicated. Early on I'd picked the sister that fit my game thematically and mostly just ignored the other one. Later I realized that I was missing out on a resource. Here's an example:

Good-aligned party.
Protagonist: Aldori Swordlord - Rogue / Sword Saint / Duelist - Offtank / Melee Damage
Octavia: Standard Build - Buffer / Ranged Damage (Skill stacked for Stealth/Perception/Trickery for traps)
Linzi: Iron Halfling Build - Tank / Buffer (Skill stacked similar to Octavia as backup in case of low roll)
Tristian: Mystic Theurge Build - AoE Healer / AoE Nukes
Ekundayo: Standard Build - Ranged Damage / Kite Bosses to trivialize game
Kalikke: Standard Build - Ranged Damage / Spot Heals

Now, the problem with Kanerah was that she didn't really out DPS anyone else and I almost never called her up. As you can see, there are no real holes in my party. She'd just inadvertently show up whenever I'd left Kalikke too exposed. Finally, I realized that she was better as a gap-filler. I reset her back to basics and had her take Wizard levels. This meant that at early levels, she'd show up, buff everyone with Bull's Strength, Enlarge Person, Haste, etc. and then switch out immediately, allowing Octavia to focus more on damaging spells. Later on the Communal Protection spells, Animal Growth, Summon Monsters, etc.

This worked pretty damn well and later I started experimenting with making them even more niche. Like when Kalikke was the off character, making her the ultimate spelunker. Everything into Perception and Trickery and stacking all related feats and class bonuses. As a character she was worthless on her own, but in terms of opening every God-tier lock and passing every impossible Perception check she was the perfect stand-by.

Later on I fiddled with having Kanerah go Wizard and Kalikke go Cleric and both be summoning focused. On tough fights they'd both blow their loads with max-feat'd summons, switching back and forth when one spell level was tapped and moving down to the next. It was fun, and it worked a lot better than any solo-summoner I'd played, but summons are just... meh-tier in this game.

Anyhow, the end-game with Kalikke and Kanerah, as I saw them, was in picking builds that enhance your party. Which is ultimately why I quit solo-builds and started on my ill-fated party builds.

That's a pretty cool idea, actually. Funny that you can't make Kallike a priest of Nethys because of her alignment, which kinda undermines that idea for me. Going full kineticist is a dead end, then?

For the Beast Lord build, which attribute do you pump at level 4?

I understand that you didn’t make your team builds, but if you were to build a team using these solo builds, which six characters would be your standard team?

At level 9 I can only take Intimidating Prowess for Amiri and not Cleaving Finish, even after taking Cleave. Possibly something that was adjusted in a patch? Should I go with something else instead? Should the build be adjusted?

Try to take any feat first, go get cleave from the ranger feat and go back to the first feat. Cleaving finish should be there.

^Thanks.

What should Tristian's spell specialization be for level 10? (Fire Lord build)
