i wanna play overlord 1 and 2 but it always brings me back to the configuration tab, i tried literally everything, run as admin change the compatibility, nothing happened, please help me i am begging you

I am not sure what your problem is: Does it not save the changes?

I don´t have that problem, but I am using Linux, so maybe modern Windows has issues with it. Usually the changes are saved on a config file, an mad maybe you can manually change those, but I don´t know if those games work that way or not
