Hi, looking forward to playing this wonderful game. I played it for a bit when it first came out and recognised it as a quality game, but sadly my computer couldn't handle it at the time.

My problem is that I when I start from the loader, after the intro and the Bink symbol, I get a black screen, a bit of black flickering, and a CTD and the error message "OC3.exe not working".

Running Vista 64 bit, DualCore E7200, 8G ram, Gigabyte motherboard, and ATI HD5770 videocard.

Any pointers appreciated.

TIA
Had the same problem with Vista back in the days (before I switched to Win7, so far I had no problems with Outcast and Win7, kinda strange since both OSes don't differ that much)

Trying different loaders fixed my problem.

Yesss!!!! The first loader there works. Thanks very much!

Late note: just for anyone else who has the same problem. I used the alternative loader and game fired up ok. I then tried to do apply Zenger's latest v3 hi rez patch. The patcher wouldn't patch, presumably because the loader was different, so I patched it with the original loader. It appears that in my case it was simply that using the game shortcut which pointed to start.exe was the problem and firing up loader.exe directly from windows explorer worked fine with the original (and now patched) loader.exe. I then changed the shortcut from start.exe to loader.exe it now it all works fine. The hi rez patch is wonderful, especially with entropy's tweaks. The game really looks quite superb now, considering its age.

*Hunkers down to gaming session* :)
