SirPrimalform: There is also the fact that the UK voices are the original ones. =)

MobiusArcher: That's sort of like saying you will not watch a directors cut, because the theatrical version came out first. It shouldn't matter what one came out first, just watch the one you like better.
Except the US version of this game isn't a director's cut. The whole idea of a director's cut is that it is closer to the director's original intention.
The US version of this game is nothing more than a dub to make it more marketable in North America.

Continuing your film analogy, I always watch the original language version vs a dub because it's what was intended.

Unless you speak the language, its still just a translation. But hey, whatever you like is fine. Im trying to say that you should stick with the one you like better. The creators vision isn't important if its not as good. Take Oblivion for example. Without any mods, that game is kind of boring. With mods, its awesome. In that case, I would say its better to play it modded, even though it changes things from what the developer intended. Its been too long since I have played Normality to know what voices are better. Im just saying that what's original isn't as important as what entertains you more. This is one of the many reason why I don't associate with Anime fans, even though I spend ridiculous sums of money on the stuff.

You make a good point with Oblivion, I agree with you there. It's true that the subtitles would be a translation, but the translation used for dubs is often screwed with for the sake of trying to lip synch.
In the end, we both agree that having the option of either would be best. People can choose whichever they prefer.

On the note of anime fans, I too find them annoying despite watching it fairly often. I do prefer the original voices for the aforementioned reason though, that and the fact that the acting on a cheap dub is usually atrocious.

Man i agree with Athenvanc, I have only ever had the US version. So when I downloaded this one, I was kind of disappointed.
I'm pissed about this. I had no idea there were two versions.

I bought the game to go on a nostalgia trip and hear the ridiculous Corey Feldman voice acting I remembered from my teens. The UK version voices = totally disgrossting!

I'll have to see if I can get a refund, but I don't have high hopes. If anyone knows how I can get the US version voices in the game, please let me know.

---update---

After watching some videos of the US version to refresh my memory, I genuinely find the US voices to be superior. Dai, for example, has so much more charm in the US version. A lot of the US voices are corny or over-acted like a cartoon, but that works to the game's benefit given it's comical nature. The UK version voices sound mostly like people reading off a page for the first time; there's no emotion or personality in their performances. I admit my view is skewed by my own nostalgia for the US version, but even accounting for that, I find it hard to believe anyone could prefer the UK version voices.

I found a copy of the US version for $6 on EBay that should be on it's way. Hopefully I can figure out how to install it and get it running on DosBox. Looks like Gremmi never had a chance to look into getting the US version files. I'll see if I can figure it out myself.

I actually came to the forum to make sure I wasn't crazy. I played this game back in 97 and I remembered the character having a specific surfer/grunge style but when I bought it on sale just hours ago, I noticed while playing he sounded completely different.

Honestly, I'd really only care to change Kent's voice if that was possible but I know its not, the UK version's character voices are much better but no one can replace Kent's surfer dude voice in my nostalgia's memory.

I wish GOG would make it available to switch between the two.
soooo gog.com? ignoring?
