When I try to apply these patches, I get the "This patch does not support your version of the game." message.

I am using the GoG website downloaded version of the game.

Any update when patches for that version will be available?

PC

Patch 1.09

The game is now much more robust at recovering corrupted save files.

Exosuit messaging system now able to correctly differentiate between resource types. Deposits discovered by scans will now display as the correct element.

Pulsedrive systems now fully offline during warping.
Players are no longer able to open crates of any type if their inventory is full, no matter the contents, preventing loss of resources.

Snafu.GoG:
hi dolnor, when did you download NMS from GOG? If it was very recently then what GOG normally does is update the main download file to be the latest patched version, so when you then try to add a patch file you get that kind of confusing message.

So it could be just that?
I downloaded and installed NMS back before the first patch arrived on the GoG site. That was when I was notified that there are 2 versions of NMS from GoG...1 that you can download via your game list (2-part download) or 1 from the Galaxy Online client. But each version needs a different patch.

I'll try downloading and trying the Setup file to see if it has been updated. I would rather NOT download the 2gb file again as I only have 3.0mbps broadband speed...it takes a long time!

styggron: Thank you for those I shall look. For me the game does not even start. Just crashes (yes I meet the spec and have open GL update etc) :)
I was getting the crash at start up (would get the Hello Games logo, then splash screen about Havok and the game engine, then it would CTD).

It did turn out to be my video card driver. It was too old and only had support for Open GL 4.4 (the game requires 4.5). So i did the latest update for my GPU and am now 2 hours into the game :)

I was trying some of the things suggested in those links i gave, but then looked more closely at the Min Specs on GOG and saw the Open GL mention. I knew my card was DirectX 11, but not what Open GL version, and tried to find out that info. In the end i used GPU Caps Viewer, and that free utility gives you the Open GL info (plus other stuff).

I might go back and have a go at the advice in those links i gave you, but so far NMS is working fine, so i don't want to upset it!

Have you done normal stuff like give the NMS.exe permission in your firewall (i noticed mine did not give a visual report about NMS, so added it manually) or make sure you have it running with Administrator Privileges if you need that etc?

Hope you work out your issue soon.

@dolnor,

My version will not accept any of the patch updates except the last one (1.09) so the current downloads on GOG are inclusive of the patches bar that last one currently (it seems).

Thank you for your kind assistance but I fear I did all that already. Not tried the new patch yet. I was going to leave it for 6-8 months. There is insufficient content in the game to keep me going from what I see so far I fear.
don't forget to keep an eye on the mods :) While not many add 'content' yet, they do improve the basic default game experience quite a bit. Let us know if the latest patch fixes your game.
Looking for a v1.09 non galaxy-gog NMS patch download link for a copy of NMS dl from GOG. Version I have is 1.08, do I need to reclaim NMS to get a patched up version? NMS and Railroad Tycoon are my 1st games thru GOG, I have bought. Support is less than stellar from Hello Games, its as though Hello Games took my 60 bucks and no longer wants anything to do with me or my support issues when trying to get their mess to run on a brand new Win10 install.
Your problem sounds like a GOG problem rather than a Hello Games problem? You did say you bought the game on GOG right, so just go into your game account in GOG, find the entry for NMS and check the 'downloads' section. You will find the base game and patches (1.09 included) right there. If your game is 1.08, just download the 1.09 patch and install it.

If your problem is more complex than that you will need to post more details on what exactly is the problem, maybe start a new thread for that?

Yep, its not my sys. What I see in GOG acct for NMS. You can plainly see, the GOG game version is 1.07, and then some named patches, GOG-x, where GOG-7 and/or GOG-8 is missing, but some small exe file named 1.09 is present, when it is run, it ruins my purchase, you know NMS 1.07... some patch naming simplification and education, needs done. Devs do not even drop a readme revision update in game folder after patch.

Any tips? Besides "get a refund man" is greatly apprc. Thanks. Been unable to play since running that thing they call, PATCH 1.09, the text is garbled in vendors, and galaxy travel is awful jerky, unlike before. Observation: Sean Murray plays on that IGN youtube video, showing off after patch gameplay, and his game inventory looks nothing like mine does. Icon for plasma launcher is difderent... even has a different name land disruptor. Is he even playing a retail copy of NMS?

What I see in GOG account for NMS to follow.

Ok so possibly what you have done is download and installed ALL of those in sequence? Whatever, that last patch named as 1.09 IS exactly that, i've been running it for a a few weeks now with no problem.

If i were you i would unistall the game, make sure all the NMS folders in your original install path are gone (delete any left over).

check C:\Users\*the user profile you installed the game under\AppData\Roaming\Hello Games

That file path is where your save game info is stored so you might want to back that up before deleting it from that location.

STEP 2: Once you are happy you have backed up your save game and all the previously installed game data is gone, you will install it again by running the first part of the two entries below, that is the GOG setup part, the second bit is the main game data for installing the game and that will be installed when you run the GOG setup (PART 1 OF 2), so you do not need to do that manually.

NO MAN'S SKY (PART 1 OF 2)1.07 (GOG-6)29 MB - double click this one to install the main game.
NO MAN'S SKY (PART 2 OF 2)1.07 (GOG-6)2.4 GB

After this you will have NMS version 1.07 (don't worry about any internal GOG numbers/names for this you might see).

STEP 3: we DO NOT install any of these:

PATCH 1287169(GOG-4)19 MB
PATCH 1289496(GOG-5)23 MB
PATCH 1.07(GOG-6)18 MB

Because your game is ALREADY at 1.07 version.

STEP 3A: You might want to try to launch the game to check it runs ok for you before the next step?

STEP 4: Install that last patch (it may or may not give a warning about breaking something (galaxy?), just ignore that and carry on to install it):

PATCH 1.09 6 MB - then after you are happy the game is working for you, double click this one to install upto the latest patch version.

And your game will be the same as mine and most other GOG users, the latest version of the game. If you want to, place your save game data back to the same location you copied it from earlier (just make sure it does not create double folders, it needs to be the exact same path as when you copied it). launch the game and enjoy :)

Lets start at step 3A. TYVM for confirming the installed version, huge help. Besides here, where was I supposed to learn that? I was lost. I have been playing and updating Dwarf Fortress, since... well forever. And have come to expect clarity, from http://bay12games.com/, a gaming company with two employees. TWO! So, it is very insulting, to receive ambiguity code from Hello Games. A co. with more people, and more money. I just want to put that out there, first.

Now I have 1.07, ignoring the GOG-X labeling. Where was am I supposed to get, 1.08? Or am I to just pretend that an eight, does not exist, like in Discworld? I am not using torrent or TPB. Hello Games Dev site has 0 patch DL links. What they spending my 60 bucks on?

I did rip it all out with a file uninst000.exe and backup my roaming app backup files. Saves. 48 slot ship and exopack, all is safe. Not sure where I was supposed to learn where save games were kept, NMS comes with no manual. Or ingame help for scum saving trolls, like me. I gotta be a scum saver, when a game is so wishy washy, it crashes to desktop, during warps, when the same freaking image is being displayed. How is that a burden on GPU?

Now I reinst it, like you say. I will NOT run 1.09, shame. I want to play, too buggy on 1.09, for me. So I dunno, maybe wait for some more clarification. What do you think? I like doing trading, so a garbled vendor list, is a rage quit offense. So whats with the 2.4.x.x numbers and 2.5.x.x numbers that appear in these patching GUIs? Are they silly coder spam? Still not understanding the revision nomenclature. But I am playing, so good there. Just hurts inside, knowing, its an out of date copy, I threw 60 bucks at, and cannot chat about, without raising people's eyebrows. "Oh your that gamer, who is too lazy to patch..." wonderful.

As I wallow in version limbo, I will head over and try some mods. Crossing my fingers, and hoping I get more value from Hello Games, than community. They could learn a thing or two about revisizing from the free programmers. Heck Dwarf Therapist and Lazy Newb Pack, never hit me below the belt like this. Never had issues with them, like this. Clear, updating there is a sign of professional programming, not procedurally generated pig faced fauna. What are these veggie eaters doing with pointed teeth? I thought they were doing this scientifically, to earn a sci fi game title?

Here, I have too many questions, for a $60 product. There needs to be a cash reimb, for me to ever think about buying a Hello Games product again. Serious DLC, has to come my way, this PC port has left a really sour taste in my mouth. My PC game, will never be the same as other GOG, because I play offline, as The Explorer..doh, without a shared Galaxy.

I cannot stand money sucking microtransaction biz models. Is this where NMS is headed, SOE getting involved? Like they did to kill off SWG. Usually, I found, while playing LOTRO, when patch sizes get small, and devs go quite, its because anticonsumer bullshit, is coming down the pipeline. Warner B.-corp bottom feeders.

Hey thanks tho, appreciate your wisdom. Bye. Birdbathscuba

Well atleast we got to the bottom of why you are here. You did not actually want or need help (might be why Hello Games have ignored you too?). Sorry i wasted my time trying to help someone that was here to simply hate on the game, THAT is very boring now, everyone is doing it, it's become a cliche.
Where can an abused Hello Games customer obtain patch up version 1.07 to 1.08? So, the 1.09 patch offered on GOG site will work, without a garbled vendor list.

You know, speaking of vendor NPCs, isn't it a little odd, that at the Trade Depot, the NPC, lets say GEK, whom we have bad relationships with, become invulnerable? Shoot one with multitool, from the open air landing platform, to see what I mean. NPC Immortality ruins my immersion. Sentenels, shot in there, do infact croak, but there canister falls thru the world. Working as designed...? ha.
