emusan: actually the fact that you have to request a CD-Key proves that they do not distribute their games with any copy protection. The moment you request a CD-Key you are ASKING for copy protection. Also your right, they don't need to provide you with this game, and you don't need to buy it. If you are so scared of even the most basic forms of copy protection present in 99% of games, you can go back to playing Zork, but you WILL NOT find a commercial multiplayer PC game, made in the last 10-15 years, that does not use copy protection of any sort.
So again, you get the game without copy protection, your free to play single player all you want without having to worry about CD-Keys or anything else. However, if you do accept the copy protection(which in this case is quite minimal, so I don't even know why you care), you will get "bonus features".
I do admit that there are some problems with gog, but they are so few and far between that they really don't matter. Even you can only find a gripe with ONE GAME, out of the hundreds they offer.
And if you really want to play LAN without any CD-Key's, write the program yourself, if you think its so easy.
