I thought playing a rogue would fit the setting quite well, but if you don't want to raise the difficulty for yourself, you might not want to go the same route. The campaign doesn't provide a good enough choice of companions to adapt to the player character, there's only a fighter, a rogue and a cleric, so if you don't play a mage, you won't have any mage spells apart from the magic devices your rogue can use, the cleric will have to play combat mage, and a group of four with two rogues in it is pretty vulnerable when fighting large groups of opponents.

Now that wouldn't be that much of a problem if the game had some flexibility in how to handle situations, but there's a part about fighting in the arena, and apparantly winning those battles is mandatory in order to advance the main plot. Good luck fighting one on one battles with your rogue, or group combat with only one real tank and no places to hide or barriers to use to your tactical advantage.

Really poor balance in this mod, and according to the developers they didn't put a mage companion in it at the time, because they thought the spellcasting AI was not good enough. Duh. Who cares about the AI, I thought the whole point of NWN2 was to finally control your companions yourself. :P

Really? That is their reason? I totally agree with you on that one; the casting AI sucks but that's why you take manual control of the spellcasters. It's no excuse to not include casters at all.

And careful with the arcane caster selection. I took the Warlock and the only reason I was able to finish the arena missions (I think some are optional) was because pick the PrC and suddenly Kerberos ( Balor level 20) appear as my summon breaking the balance of the fight at my favor.

Though maybe you can save the situation, you has two sneak attacks, and cleric which can dispel arcanes, probably you need to try to kill the arcane caste sorrounding with the sneaky people., but not sure, or do as many sidquests as you an to get more level (+save bonus +BAB))
But the main weak point of the game is the amount of gold you need at the half of the history, not warning, for that moment I already did all the sidequest and spent the money on Items.

And I'm not sure, but at this point, the mask don¿t give protecton?
