So I entered the Weeping Willow for the first time. No problems. Script ran with Kelgar. Dispatched the bad guys. Went into the inn, talked to him, got jumped by the gray dwarves. Killed them, went upstairs, killed the ones there, came back down, talked to innkeeper. Ready to move on.

Then the problem happens. I walk outside the inn and suddenly the exact same script with Kelgar triggers. It is as if we just dispatched the thugs that accosted him when you enter the Weeping Willow. He thanks me for my help, blah blah blah. Conversation ends, and we are standing outside and it is as if everything else (the gray dwarves attacking the inn) has happened. So the only weird thing that happened is the conversation repeated.

However, I cannot progress. If I go to the world map travel points, the only accessible areas are the Swamp Ruins, the starter town, and the Weeping Willow. So I can't progress to Fort Locke or anything. So either there is a game-breaking bug or I am an idiot and missing something vital here.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I don't recall there being anything you need to pick up in order to progress, so the only thing I can think of is did you talk to everyone in the inn? Maybe there a convo script that needs to fire. If not, then I guess you've found a bug.

Yeah, I made sure I talked to everyone after you posted. Innkeeper, non-interactive commoners. Galen and his mercs are no longer upstairs of course because they left after the encounter up there. I also had previously talked to the husband and wife after the attack. So I don't think there is anyone else to talk to.

This is pretty frustrating. Maybe there is a way to force the next zone? Move myself there via the debug menu or something?? Run a necessary script?

There's probably a way to force the proper script to fie by using the console, but I don't know what it would be. You might be able to find it through a google search though. I hope you get it sorted out. Sorry i can't be more help.
All you can do is go back to an earlier save & hope it doesn't happen again.
If it keeps happening, you will have to start a new game.
This game is absolutely infested with such bugs.
What operating system are you using?
I have restarted 10+ times & have yet to make it through.
Someone here is having that problem. kevL seems to have some idea of where the problem is.

Hmm. Sounds like he has an idea of what is going on, but isn't sure how to fix it. I guess I am boned until they do. I don't have an earlier save unfortunately.

I'm not interested in playing until they get this figured out. I put in a support request with gog, hopefully they will come up with something.

Thanks for the help guys
