I have read a lot of these post and have tried many different solutions that I read. I click on the neverwinter nights incon and even the nwn.exe in neverwinter winter nights folder in the gog folders which are both set to run as adminstrator and run windows compatibility mode windows xp service pack 2); and after i allow the program to run the initial menu pops up with play, toolset, dm client, etc... I then click play and the program loads up. I usually left click or hit enter on the first screen. Sometimes I wait for the 2nd screen or even the movie to pop up before I hit a button. Anyways I get kicked out of the game with an error message. Neverwinter Nights stopped working. I usually have to keep reloading it 3-7 times like this before I am able to actually play the game. is there a better solution for this.

Does this always happen when the intro movies are playing? If so, try disabling them. Go to your nwn.ini file in your main NWN folder and look under [Display Options]. See if the following line is there:

Disable Intro Movies=1

If it's not, add it in. If it is, but the last number is a zero, change it to a 1. See if that helps.
I added that line in and it works. The funny thing is i have to hit the windows key to get out of fame and then click on the tab in the lower screen to go back into to game. That is the only way to be able to click on the initial menu. Thanks a lot this is awesome. Now it runs every single time.

Excellent! Still a bit of a pain in the ass to get going, but at least it works. :)
