I seem to get my speed movement decreased after my character falls in battle and nothing I do will restore the speed back to normal. I have googled it but alas have not found an actual solution in solving this problem. no spells or toxins or diseases or armor or too many items is causing the problem at hand. is there some console command I can type in to stop this from continuing? or perhaps something else I can do. I have been to a healer, used potions, spells and everything else but no no avail. I restarted my character from scratch and then she fell in battle and when she came to her speed movement was decreased. this new character is in the beginning of the game about to go to the caves to get the shard. I really do not desire to play a slow character for the whole game and do not want to start yet another character. any and all help is appreciated.
please and than you all.

I know you said that no spells are causing the problem, but is it possible that a lack of spell effects, ie. you were buffed but now are not, is the issue?

Also, it may help anybody reading to know which game you are referring to, and any/all mods/haks you have installed.
am I not on the neverwinter nights 2 forum? I clicked to get here from neverwinter nights 2 game from my library so I thought I was I was in the neverwinter nights 2 forum. my latest character is a level 1 character with nothing. she fell in battle a couple of times but the boy following her was strong enough to live so she came back alive.
I play with no mods, no hacks just the game that gog sold me. thank you for your reply and any future replies.

This is the Neverwinter Nights Series forum for both 1 & 2.

Regarding your character there are some things to check:

* Check you don't have walk enabled - press SHIFT to toggle walk/run
* Check you don't have search or tracking mode enabled - this slows your character
* Animations may become buggy if your computer has been on a long time - reboot your computer

This is the forum for the Neverwinter Nights series, so you generally need to specify which of the two games you're referring to.

The only thing I can think of, based on your description, is that you're accidentally going over your carrying capacity and are being slowed by that. The NPC healers in the NWN series basically hit you with a "fix every possible ailment you could possibly have" effect, so if you've visited one of them that should rule out any status affliction.
My bad for not looking at where I was and posting the game I am talking about thank you to those who clarified that for me.

59.4/80 is my encumbrance. nothing as far as speed for my character seems to be active. she is a level 1 Drow wizard. I tried pushing shift but it did not make her move at normal speeds. I have the icon that states speed movement decreased and on the character sheet it states speed movement decreased. nothing seems to be activated. Well I guess I will start a new character as I am not far after the fair and just left to get the shard.

I will just start watching my character a little closer and try and find out what happens before this happens.

thank you to everyone who took the time to reply.

Pretty obviously referring to NWN2..

In case you're still looking for a solution, have you tried buffing your wizard with spells like Bull's Strength or giving items to another character in your party?

If I remember correnctly, the charcter screen tells you the current and maximum numbers for encumbrance.
What it doesn't tell you is that encumbrance is handled via 3 values: "None", "Normal" and "Heavy", as follows:
- Characters with None or less than Normal encumbrance move at full speed.
- Characters with Normal or more than Normal encumbrance cannot run, but can walk at full speed.
- Characters with Heavy encumbrance cannot run and walk at 50% normal speed.

So, based on this, and having run into the same issue, my guess is that you're thinking your wizard should be in the clear, encumbrance-wise, since she hasn't reached max (i.e. Heavy) encumbrance levels. However, since the game only shows the current and Heavy encumbrance values, it might be that she's carrying enough stuff to have reached the "Normal" encumbrance levels and can no longer run.
having went back and trying out what you said it was the number of items carried. where as I had not yet reached my max encumbrance I was being slowed tremendously by the amount I had.
this right here was the problem:

when I removed enough items to where I was below 50 weight I was and am able to move at normal speeds. My max weight carry is like 80 or so but at 50 it slows you down. under 50 is moving normally. I guess the game tries for a realistic feel as in real life I would slow down with the more weight I carry but can still move until I max out the weight I am actually able to carry.
