What are your thoughts on this? I'm torn between waiting for NWN 2 and just getting NWN 1 or even getting NWN 2 from another vendor.

Is there any reason to suspect NWN 2 won't come to GOG any time soon?
I hope it will come and I don't see a reason why not. :)

Possibly not in the short term, given the current price on the Atari store website - $20 for NWN2 or $30 for NWN2 Gold.
This is no reason... they can lower the price to sell more copies ;)

They could - but it *is* Atari, remember... :)
damn right... I forgot...
NWN2 already has a place for buying online...I think it is the Atari website actually.

While for NWN1 this was the first time...
Unfortunately, the Deluxe Edition is not available there for my region, only the Gold and 30$ is way too much for such an old game :)

I think that the Gold Edition is the only one available for direct download.

Also, this might sound like a stupid question, but... price and accessibility aside, is there any reason to get NWN over NWN?

I'm just a cheap son of a... err... bugbear sometime :p)
Well considering NWN 2 Deluxe edition still costs €49.99 (!) at ATARI store there's no way in hell they're going to sell it here for 9.99$ any time soon. Look back in five years (then again ATARI's Hasbro license has expired by then).

Damn ! I only checked the US store where it's marked 'not available'. The UK store lists NWN2 Deluxe availabvle £29.13.

Hmmmm.... just maybe...

Assuming you meant "is there any reason to get NWN over NWN2?", I would answer yes. Even though the latter is a good game (especially the first expansion), the former has much more community created content.
Of course, it's even better to have both games ...
GOG stands for "Good Old Games".
NWN2 is neither good nor old. That pretty sums it up.

NWN 2 was released in 2006 so there are newer games here as is. But as I already mentioned above, it's still sold for 50€. Until it's price drops significantly (not any time soon I wager as only ATARI's own net store sells it so no competition to push down the price) it won't be coming here. Also as ATARI's license on Hasbro franchises will expire in few years and is unlikely to be renewed (Hasbro did take ATARI to court over the license), it's possible it'll never happen. But we can always hope.

Hah. Mind elaborating on that? Do you think NWN is better than NWN 2, and why?

I actually purchased NWN 2 and have been enjoying it so far. I've tried out one player created module (Harp and Chrysanthemum), and I must say I'm quite impressed.

I stumbled upon the Amazon.com page for NWN 2, and I was very surprised at the very large number of reviews giving it 3 stars or less. NWN proportionally received far more 4 and 5 star reviews. Was it comparatively a disappointment?
