So, since they aren't for sale, or official download anymore, are they considered abandonware? As in, if one of us happens to have working copies of them and uploaded them to a file sharing site, that hypothetical person could post the link here without getting in trouble or offending any of the companies we love?

Anyway, the point is that posting stuff like that could almost always get you into trouble, because it is almost never legal, even if official support and availability is zero.

If they aren't selling it anymore, why wouldn't they just license it to GOG and let them remove the DRM, and get what little money out of it that they still can? it doesn't make any sense not to, unless they plan to sell it themselves which doesn't seem likely.

Although I already own NWN Diamond, I would definitely buy the GOG version if it gave me access to those mods.

They (Bioware) can't without blessing of ATARI who forced them to stop them selling the premium modules in the first place. ATARI owns exlusive license to making and selling AD&D/Dungeons&Dragons based video games so no video games based on those frachises can made or sold without ATARI's authorization. Court battle between Hasbro (owner of the (A)D&D franchise) and Infogrames/ATARI over the the license has added additional confusion to the situation but it seems GOG managed to convince both sides to allow them to distribute the games. Hopefully that means GOG can continue to sell them even if ATARI loses the license in court.

Edit: just checked the wikis for the modules and all three now have "As of December 2009 Atari owns the rights to the module, which is not available for purchase." added to them. There are no citations so I don't know what that statement is based on.

This sounds good deal to me and maybe explain earlier questions about these modules.

It just contains the objects and tilesets and all the other stuff though, not the modules themselves!

Never mind the premium modules - the best premium module is the one that's free - Darkness over Daggerford. So just play this module and don't worry you can't get the rest, as they are not a patch on Daggerford!!!

Well... GOG has brought almost all the games I've wanted to this service, so let's just ask them to bring those modules over :)

You sir, are right. They have brought over EVERY game I loved from my childhood. They havn't done us wrong yet, and I'm sure they will come through on this. Oh, and Dungeon Keeper 1&2, haha. That's all that's missing.

Baldur's Gate 2 and Icewind Dale 2. But those may be forthcoming.

I was lucky enough to buy all three of them after I bought a copy of Diamond. I've played around a bit with Infinite Dungeons, completed Shadowguard and Witch's Wake (it's a shame that Atari prevented them from continuing those storylines.... so much wasted potential), and keep meaning to play Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown.
