SirEyeball: they are sending an Email with the ini file

rawmilk905: Thanks, that's what I was thinking and I updated my instructions to reflect that.

rawmilk905: New players, for NWN1, is GOG sending keys in an email, or are they sending the nwncdkey.ini file? I'd like to give the clearest possible instructions, so the more people chime in, the better. My memory is that it is the latter, and I probably have the file lying around somewhere. I am assuming that the keys GOG sends are ok, though I am convinced I received a bad key for Sacred Gold long ago. I am using the cd-keys from my old disc version on the GOG install, as those are the keys associated with my Bioware user account.
I got mine in the form of .ini file two days ago. Haven't tested it yet.

As for the great user created modules, I'd definitely recommend A Dance with Rogues. It is strictly 18+ due to very mature content, nudity etc. But it has a great story, interesting quests and characters, lots of opportunities to role play your character, and no tedious hack and slash of any kind. This module alone has reinvigorated NWN for me after eleven years. What you get is an opportunity to role play a rogue class character with all the choices and consequences that would entail. Very detailed module indeed. Also brutal.
Well I did start up and tried Tyrants of the Moonsea, to realize I have indeed played it through before.
Guess I'll go through it again as I remember almost nothing of it, and almost nothing of Crimson Tides of Tethyr which was kind of the prequel for it.

Anyway, if anyone bothers to make module recommendations in this thread, it'd be real handy.

I often end up on servers I think I never tried and find I already have a character. :)
Anyone want to give me a rundown on how to install mods? Pretty much every mod on the vault that I have been looking at comes with not instructions. Not to mention the vault website color hurts my eyes like crazy and makes most things on there unreadable. I have been looking at (http://social.bioware.com/forums/forum/Neverwinter-Nights-1/NwN-1-General-Discussion-Forum-No-Spoilers-Allowed/quotAdd-ons-amp-Tips-from-the-NWN-Communityquot--3275241-1.html) and would love to be able to use some of these graphical improvements if I knew where they went.

For instance where would I go about putting (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Models.Detail&id=434&comment_page=1) I tried the override folder like the instructions said but nothing worked.

One last thing. Can someone give me the differences between NWNCQ/NWNShader and Project Q?

It's rather simple, actually. Each module comes with following file extensions, but not necessarily all of them: .mod, .hak, .bmu, .bik, and .tlk.

.mod files go to modules folder in your NWN directory
.hak files go to hak folder
.bmu go to music folder
.bik go to movies folder
.tlk you place in tlk folder

All you have to do is look at what your mod has in the way of files. Of course, some mods have their specific instructions, so the above may not apply. But every mod I've downloaded had instructions included. I haven't installed the one you are having problems with, so I can't help you with that one. I'll see about trying it after I get home. I'll let you know how it went and if it is working for me.

Edit: Mod you have linked works fine for me. Have you checked if the files themselves were unpacked into the override folder? Could be that the mod files were unpacked in a folder of their own inside override folder.

Yep. BitDefender 2013 detects a trojan in camera v2 rar archive. But it could be false positive because it is meant to modify another program. Still, I wouldn't risk it in your place.

I'm pretty sure that is a false positive. I've been running version 2 if I'm not mistaken for years now with no adverse effects. I think there is some discussion in the comments there and it just seems unlikely that version 2 would be a trojan and version one would be fine.
There are instructions there to hex edit the game yourself if you distrust the download.

I can't dl it without it getting eaten by my Virus protection and I can't/won't make exceptions so I think I'll leave that one alone. It was only a heads up that it came out dodgy for some of us

Well, Higher Ground has a modified exe that includes a similar camera mod, along with a few other changes. As it is already modified, no need to worry about it setting off any alarms and it works fine, I just prefer the more fluid feel of the other camera mod. If you rename it you can even have it installed side by side with the original exe.

what about the first version of the camera mod is that any good that one I can download without my VP going amok
Yes, that one was OK, but I think the second was an improvement. I'm not sure but I think I tried both. It was a long time ago. Back up your original exe and if you don't like it you can revert to the old exe or use the higher ground one.
