A version of nwn that works better with modern os/cards, and some bugfixes and GUI scaling! As a regular nwn player I'm really looking forward to this. Hopefully some new players might pick up the game and maybe even make some new modules for singleplayer.

Removing the option to buy the original classic games just pushes people to get it "elsewhere".

Is it only me, or do I already see problems ahead.....

All the games I know which do have this 'feature' are kind of exclusive for steam, the rest of the world is.....screwed?

Correct me if I am wrong though.....

Why is that? It's an additional distribution platform for mods that is nice and easy for people that struggle with other systems. It's not like modders are going to use it exclusively.

P.S. I realise that my post was positive in relation to the game and fully expect it to be annihilated. ;-)

okay, okay other way round ;) . You can't access those workshops unless you own the game on steam. (AFAIK!!)

Hence people will be cut off from mods, not like in the moment, right? It might be a nice feature, but rather restrictive and it will (call me pessimistic ;) ) divide the community.
>IF< they would really appreciate moders work, I think a better way would have been to NOT do steamworkshop.
There are tons of possibilities to spread your mods (like moddb), so why steam? (they could even distribute a video for moddb....far cheaper then doing extra stuff for steamworkshop :D )

for your PS: Jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim!!!! Did I really annihilated it? ;)

PPS: Keep up the good work ;)

LOL. You know what, it's refreshing to talk to someone with an open mind, despite differences in opinion. For that, I thank-you.

As to the topic at hand, I can see where you are coming from, however from past experience (oh oh, assumptions abound...) modders have always seemed to favour moddb, nexus or whatever infront of the Steam workshop. Now I would wager this isn't 100% of the time, but I doubt modders would use the workshop as sole distribution for their mods, especially considering how things have been done in the past (and in the knowledge of how NWN works).

"Dividing the community" might be a bit of an overstretch in this regard... however, as it isn't out yet it's difficult to say exactly what will happen. I do however, feel confident that NWN modders understand that the Steam workshop doesn't account for all users and would therefore want their mods to be as accessible as possible - hence hosting them on other sources - like the new vault - as well.

It does divide the community in another way.

Mods created with the new version are incompatible with the version that many have already paid for, multiple times by now for many of us.

Only out of differences something better can arrive, essential is only to share the ideas behind it ;)

So no reason to thank me ;)

Yes, in the moment it is all about assumptions. Unfortunate, really, I do not remember which game it was anymore, I do remember I have it on GOG and tried to find a patch for it, just to find out, only on steamworkshop. On problem with it is, that ONLY the moder creating it, can really put it somewhere else (copyright). So if this moder is to lazy or whatever, it will be lost. In the other case, somebody else could have picked it up (even without steam) creating another version of it and making this available.

One thing I know for sure, people are lazy (yes I do include myself :D ), hence a good percentage will already be lost just out of this reason (maeh...doing it again on moddb/nexus....naeh....).

Another factor for my 'fear' is another one. A lot of the older generations, which enjoyed this gem were raised with different behaviour for this. (The following is an assumption In general speaking based on my obversations) The younger generations seem to be superficial for a lot of things, including the simple fact that there is something else but Steam (or whatever app they are using as well). Why I do not know. Taking this into account .....see above ;)

I THINK that GOG is the place (also younger audience) were those still reside, willing to go beyond, but look at the success of steam, ah, just one click away (again laziness;) ), no work.....no extra search and so on.

And now truthfully do you still think (extra said think, not believe ;) ) that steamworkshop will not cause problems?

So WHY did the devs do go down this route? (Already just by suggestion it.) As on the other hand all major mods are outside of it. Shall make you think twice, or?

Sorry for the long reply ;)

You are trying REALLY hard to sell this game, aren't you?

So far you have only commented on threads that has to do with the new EE version of the game. Not a word from you in any of the threads about the classic game. Nothing. You just showed up and started promoting the game as soon as it was announced.

" - Anyone with suggestions for improvements should head to the official Beamdog forums to make their voice known"

Exact same line Julius Borisov used when PS:T EE was getting stick.

I hope they are paying you well.

My god god man. You are still going on and on with your hate crusade and smear tactics after all this? There really is no helping you. You truly have shown your true colours in this thread. I actually feel sorry for you, being so bitter as to continuously attack me all the time. It's quite sad.

Just pointing out the obvious. You claimed NWN was your favorite game and all that. Yet you haven't made a single comment on the game until the classic was announced. As soon as it was announced you show up in every thread that has to do about the EE, and you promote it hard. Not attacking you as a person. Just your motives.

Feel free to debunk my arguments with evidence.

Firstly, I have been active on these forums for a while. Not as much as recently, granted. If you cared to check you would see for yourself. However quite why I should even have to bother defending thus is just nuts. It's another back-handed attack that has no relevance to the subject matter. It's another case like the one in the other thread you made, where you made assumptions and even called another user a liar when infact it was you who was wrong. A mod had to step in to clarify things.

Secondly, rather than us continuing this pointless dirt throwing contest, how about you drop the hostility and attacks and have a conversation like a normal human being. It would be nice to see.
I think you should step down Stig79.

Ever since Beamdog released EE a while back, you have been so negative. I do accept what you think and why you think bit, but most people simply don't care. They get the chance to buy the game again and they are happy with it.

I think you forget the most important part, love for old game. So why don't you go play with your vanilla edition and those you wait for the EE in peace.

But like I said, I do respect why you prefer the Vanilla and despise Beamdog, but that is not me.

Hope you enjoy your game!!

Stig79: snip
Stig, please.....

Why? I know you are disappointed, but making unjustified claims?
I know you can do better, or?

Yes, he might be overly euphoric and WHAT?
You are overly negative (so what?), but no need to do some sort of dirt slinging, right?

Example? You accuse him, not for the first time, to be an employee of said company, without any proof.....I tried to step in, as I have seen Jim prior around.

As I said prior, having a discussion about what they screwed up or might screw up, fine....actually good, just to warn people, but please for all of us (as we are here as WE ALL LIKE/LOVE this gem) try to dial down, okay? ;)

I know it is hard in the light of some incidents which happened in the past, but it can be done in abetter way, right?
