recently tried the Baldur's Gate server.. Despite being the most popular, I was not overly impressed. it was very chatty and had painfully slow progression.

Had much better luck with RoT (Realms of Trinity) - really awesome DM staff and the amount of development put into it is impressive. plus it's an extremely stable server...
