I played NWN original years ago, but just today downloaded NWN2 complete...

I&ve never played it, but i played alltheway through NWN and a lot of modules and custom stuff too...

So

A- are there any major recommended modpacks/fixpacks etc. for people using the GOG (essentially) vanilla version.????

B- Any highly recommended mods, conversions etc. etc.??

I am use to TOEE/BG/IWD which all take a lot of modding to be the most enjoyable (IMO) but I remember NWN to be very playable vanilla although still modable, most useful was just getting new custom contents after you had beat all the basic stuff.. and they had some tower defense/wargame type mods that were really fun too...anythign like that for NWN2??

YEs its a start.....so far I am not liking NWN2...I had great fun with NWN back in the day...I thought it would be better...

FOr me a its just the GUI is all wrong. Its really hard to get anything done, to send any commands, to control combat. The pace of the game isn't exactly exciting since I am spending all my time struggling with the GUI and not seeing/really feeling engaged in the action...rather just overwhelmed by it. ITs like I just feel rushed to get things done before eveyrthing goes to crap because I have abosllutely not control on what is going on...and i feel like I am missing/skipping everyrhing...and its tedius LOL.

Anyway just not having a good impression of the NWN2 GUI. NWN was seemless and easy for me. I will take an easy to use GUI over graphics any day of the week. I havent got to the point of noticing AI issues. From what I read around though the AI is all screwed up so I am considering that mod if it helps...I need to get the point where I am even aware of the AI and any deficiencies in it...for now I am pretty unsatisfied with the RI not translating because of the crappy GUI issues
I wish I knew about disabling fadein/fadeout of panels and minimizing context menu delay, when I first played. I can't stand unresponsive UIs.
xUI for NWN2 is also a good one.

The NWN2 Client Extension allows for multiplayer and also fixes the choppy walking people experience.

Also, once you get tired of the official campaigns, there is this mod called Wulverheim which is an open world sandbox campaign where you can do whatever you want. No real story to follow.
My problem with xUI is that the panels haven't been vertically extended to account for 1080px height (ie, they're too "short"). That's also a gripe I have with Tchos's effort, but his are at least extended more than xUI.

Tchos' isn't perfect in other ways too, but I find it to be the best option for me.

I tweaked Tchos' to have a smaller font in both the chat window and journal, to try and make up for the panel length issue (I want more words and info on my screen, without the need to scroll down all the time).

Maybe some XML expert will come along and revamp the UI for full in-game configurability, just being able to resize the panel length would be nice.
Ah, that is fine with me, but I see how some might want it differently.

Also, there's a mod that adds a whole bunch of features like classes, feats, spells, etc., and even fixes some issues with the game's feats and such. It's called Kaedrin's PrC Pack. It's used often with other mods, like Baldur's Gate Reloaded, so it's well known.

Maybe check it out after you're familiar with the mechanics of the game, and want to try some new things.

yea I saw that...it looks super overpowered and total munchkin classes/prcs/new races...
some of them should have level adjustments or dont...they are like other races with out the level adjustment...and some of the prcs are just core classes on crack...like the bard one.

pretty silly to me. i appreciate the added options/flavors but it would be nice to have balanced options as well, or a balanced version or way to checklist whats in and what eint.... ill probably use it at some point ill just have to not use the overpowered stuff....but somestuff has lready been reworked..

my main issue is not being able to see anything or walk around at all...its just really really hard to ocntrol...

Oh, well it was made to help balance the game and introduce new classes and features, so no it's not overpowered.
