So I fired up NWN to play through the main campaign, and hit a bug. As soon as I traveled to the Bonegnasher clan area, my party members' AI seems to have died. They won't respond or move at all unless I explicitly command them to. As you might imagine, this makes moving the party quite a headache, particularly in the long, windy canyon areas, as it has to be done one member at a time. The bug sticks around even after leaving the area; going back to previously explored (and navigated with a party AI that's not out to lunch) leaves me with a group of voodoo zombies. I've fiddled with every AI setting in the character menu, and nothing's helped- the only thing I've worked out is that it doesn't apply to my PC, just the NPCs.

I tried reinstalling, and even starting a second game up to see if I'd get the same problem; I did. Anyone else encounter this or have advice on fixing it?

There are a few times in the OC where the AI is deliberately turned off.
Just press V (for voice) then W (for combat) then F (for Guard Me) and you should be right.

That did the trick- thanks!

For bonus points, do you have any idea WHY that would suddenly happen, for no readily apparent reason, and with no warning or notification?

I suspect that you came to the cut scene where the Bugbears are arguing amongst themselves.
The AI is disabled so your companions don't initiate combat while your stuck in a cut scene.
