I created my own Portraits foilder. But nothing I put in there manifests in the game.
Where are the in-game portraits stashed??
I tried the Createportraits function also, but it does NOTHING.
I tried every format: TGA, BMP. JPEG .. nothing works. Even used Portraits from previous games. Nothing.
I would make do with the existing portraits, but frankly, they are lousy.
Being able to put in our own Portraits has always been a great thing and really enhances the game.
Would appreciate the solution to this. Thank you.
NWN1 or NWN2?

When you made your own portraits - did you keep the same dimensions and max file-size as the in-game ones?
Can't remember off the top of my head but the NWN1 ones are .tga (24-bits uncompressed)
I seem to recall making a portraits folder before in the main directory and they were available - but there is a naming convention for the different sizes.
Looking at my current install, I can't find portraits - but each game-save folder contains 'portrait.tga' - you could try replacing that.

Look at this guide:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thank you very much.

I have made TGA Portraits in the past using Photopaint from Corel. Worked fine. But this is all very time comsuming as you know. There are NWN Portrait downloads/resources still around and I also had many saved from long ago. BUT they don't seem to work. Don't show up. I'm guessing that in the process of undating NWN for GOG that they have changed something whereby the previous systen doesn't work anymore. ??? I'm hoping it's still somehow possiblle though.
If I discover how to do it, I'll post it.

Thank you again.

You still never answered whether this is for NWN or NWN2, so I'm going to assume NWN and send you to the wiki link on portraits. All you need to know is there.

Sorry ... yeah NWN.

Haven't tried NWN 2 yet - guessing that works fine.

Thanks. I'll check out that link.

OK ... resolved.

Create Portraits folder in NWN files location ... make sure to put 's' on Portraits.
Find a nice JPEG image.
Put in in Portraits folder.
Open NWN. Load a game.
Press the ~ button. This opens the console.
Type: ConvertPortrait - then a space - then the JPEG name. Make sure to use a Capital C and Capital P - or it won't work.
Press Enter. Portrait should be created and a message will tell
you to start a new game/character - and your Portrait should then be available.

That's it. Hope this works for everybody.
Thank you to my friend above for his assistance.

the path for the portaits for me was this -
(which ever drive it's installed on, C, D or whatever) GOG Galaxy\Games\Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition\data\prt
hope this helps anyone who looks in the future.
