Hello !

I think I have a bug that confused me. I'm playing Neverwinter Nights with the Diamond Edition, I downloaded the 1.69 critical rebuild from Neverwinter Vault and the Community Patch Project 1.71 in French (and the Community Expansion Pack 2.70).
My character is a level 15 monk with evasion and improved evasion. As I understood from the description (both in French in my game and in English in NWN wiki), with this, if I have a reflex save against a trap or spell, I should take no damage if I pass the roll or take half the damage if I fail.
But in my game, I'm still taking damage when I make a successful save against a trap in the vanilla campaign.

Is this a bug or have I misunderstood how evasion is supposed to work?

Thanks for your answers.

Evasion and Improved Evasion work vs traps and spells with Reflex saves, but there are also other spells that require Fortitude or Will saves. The feats will not work against those kinds of attacks. (For example, most traps are Reflex save based, I believe, but there are a few traps like the Negative Energy traps that are Fort saves instead.)
Thanks for your reply!

I was playing in chapters 3 and 4 of the original campaign and tried to pay more attention to the damage type and it seems to have only happened with the acid trap for me (as far as I can tell because I can't see the damage type when evasion worked).
I didn't know there were other types of saves against traps, I looked on the NWN wiki but it seems acid is a reflex save.

In my first post, I attached a screen of my character making a reflex save against an acid trap. The DD was 25 and my character did a 26 against the trap but I received 48 acid damage.

A trap with special effects, the save only prevents the special effect but doesn't cut damage.

Acid Blob Trap, has a special effect paralysis as well as damage. The save only cuts the paralysis. Since it doesn't do 1/2 damage, it wouldn't qualify for evasion.

Acid Splash Trap, OTOH, has no special effect, and the save gives half damage, so should qualify for evasion.
