Hello, this about what the topic title says. I have Windows 8.1 with an AMD Radeon R2 graphics card.

In NWN1, the game works fine as long as the resolution stays at 800x600. But, if I try to change it to 1776x1000, or any other resolution, the game crashes to blue screen at startup, and I have to shut down my computer to get out of the BSoD.

When I try to test resolutions in the NWN Config utility, it says it can't find OpenGL support in my graphics card, and suggests looking for a new driver.

Yet, the updating screen in Windows 8.1 device manger/display driver claims I am up to date with the "best" driver for my computer and card.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it the same OpenGL problem that plagues many older games on newer AMD cards? Is there a fix for Windows 8.1 and Radeon R2 series?

Thanks. I'm enjoying my game at 800x600 res, but it bugs me that I had perfect 1776x1000 going on my old computer with Windows 7 and a fully updated disc install of NWN, while my new computer and the Gog.com version of the game will only run in 800x600.
Howdy,

i have indeed the same problem with my AMD R9 270.

I don't knwo if this is of any use for u, but when i set the setting in the AMD options for nwmain.exe to "energy saving" so it uses the onboard intel card (which also runs the game smoothly since it's pretty dated ;) it works fine on full res.

As i said it's not the solution, but maybe an option to play with the high res until the amd issues gets sorted out.
@Spenzel, thanks, at least I know I'm not alone. I can't find any way to change settings for a particular program in my AMD Catalyst Control to try what you suggest, but that's okay. I'm getting used to just playing in 800x600.

I've tried everything I can think of - I downloaded and installed some alternate drivers, (no good, so I reverted to the most up-to-date driver from AMD), and I downloaded and installed the June 2010 version of DirectX as recommended by the GoG.com troubleshooting page.

I've also tried disabling my McAfee Real Time Scanning.

Nothing works. Anything but 800x600 crashes to blue screen, and I can't test in the config utility because it says it can't find OpenGL support.
