Please, please PLEASE tell me that realMYST will be coming along soon....
...if not soon, then eventually?
While having it on GOG would be great...RealMyst isn't that hard to find. It came out in 2000, but it was pretty far ahead of its time graphics and engine-wise. It ran like crap on most computers back then. It runs just fine on XP straight off the retail disk. never tried it on Vista or Win7, though, but I doubt it would have any trouble, as I believe it was a very early DirectX 8 game, which is still pretty well supported in backwards compatibility by DX9 and DX10

I got me RealMyst the other day since gog's Myst does not want to work at all under Windows on my netbook (ASUS EEE 1005HA, Windows 7 32bit). I tried all the tricks in this forum... (It sort of works in Wine.)
RealMyst on the other hand works perfectly, with the Windows XP compatibility box checked.
Well, I already have the CD form of the game.
I'd like a download version for convenience's sake.
If that's anywhere on the internet, please let me know, and I'll be on my way.
Still, it would be nice to get it here...
Surprise!

Quick question. I have realMYST on CD but it hasn't worked for years due to some compatibility issues (maybe due to Windows or graphics cards or something).
Does the GOG version work on Windows 7 x64 now?

Just bought it and tried it on Win 7 32 bit, it does not seem to. Game starts, movies work, but there's major graphical errors and lag when the game actually starts.

I'm trying it in 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium, and I'm getting the same problems on an Nvidia G105M :(
You guys might want to try the configuration tool and switch from 'Direct 3D and T&L' to 'Direct 3D'.
On Vista / Win7 also try to apply 'XP SP3 compatibility mode' and 'Run as admin' to the game shortcut, and 'Run as admin' to the setup.exe (the configuration tool)
That's what i did, and it's running fine at my end @ 1920x1200 with full AA. Win7 64bit.
Thanks Namur, got mine to work with your hints. If anyone else needs more detailed instructions here's what i did to get it to work under win7 x64:
1. Change the setup utility (realMYSTSetup.exe) in your realMyst folder to run as admin always
2. Set the RealMystStart exe to windows xp sp3 compatibility and check off run as admin.
3. Set your 3D Hardware to Direct3d HAL and NOT Direct3d T&L HAL
4. Set your resolution to whatever you want (I'm running 1920x1080 32 bit)
5. Set your texture quality to High (that's what I'm running at least)
6. I have Full Scene Anti-Aliasing on and it works fine, ymmv
7. Select ok and run RealMystStart.exe (the exe with the yellow gog icon and not the myst book one).
8. Hopefully play like me.
Hope this helps.

That does work, unfortunately without HW T&L the game lags in places. Still, guess it's better than nothing.
I found the compatability does not need to be set to run under win 7 32
but the graphics setup needs to be direct 3d hal.
Looks so much better than my myst masterpiece cd 10th anniversary edition
love being able to wonder around better with real myst version
Seems like it needs the compatability of xp after all, starts off fine then during game play crashes.

We Europeans would disagree with you on that point, given as it wasn't released here.
My experience with Myst, although it is one of my favourite games, has been chequered. I bought Myst Masterpiece Edition about seven years ago on CD, and I'd had problems with it ever since (usually issues related to QuickTime). I'd tried everything to get it to work properly, and eventually I resorted to downloading a non-legit copy of realMyst, which DID work. I think it still does work, but when I saw it for sale on GOG, I took the opportunity to finally buy a legit copy. So, bravo GOG!
Does the game run natively at 1920 x 1200? Or is it just upscaled to that resolution?

I don't think that is completely accurate -- RealMyst was released at some point in the UK. (I know this because when I ordered mine from Cyan, they sent me a European / UK version. Has the 'ELSPA OK' content rating on it, and lists ubisofts website as http://www.ubisoft.co.uk )
Looks very similar to this -> http://www.amazon.co.uk/UBI-Soft-Real-Myst/dp/B0000632PS
