I LOVE this game but the interface is... well. Awful.

And I'm getting tired of it. There MUST be some awesome mods out there for this classic surely? I just want to be able to sell shit to the merchants properly without having to endlessly go back and forth to make sure I'm not selling something I've been saving for ages or whatever.
Plus I would like to be able to DO stuff without having to go through 100 steps.

Any ideas goggers?
Nothing that I've ever seen.
How exactly are you selling stuff that you need to go "back and forth"? There may be a better way of doing it.
What are you trying to do that takes so many steps?
Well basically I usually end up doing massive runs till my inventory's full then I teleport back to town and it's just mainly going out of shop, checking out my stuff's bonuses and stuff, making sure I'm selling the right ones, switching them to each character blah balh... I'm just saying that it takes way too much time.
You can move items between characters, even in the shop, you just can't equip them.
If you really need to know whether you want to keep something, there's the identify option that will tell you exactly what bonuses or how much damage an item will do. Maybe I've been working with it too much, but the bonuses are basically second nature to me now. Eventually you just come to know that an Ogre belt grants +8 strength but a Dragon belt grants +38 so you don't need to go back and forth equiping different items to see which is best.
Or you can just look them up online.

Figuring out the bonuses granted by items is probably the most annoying part of the game, but fortunately GOG included the cluebook with the extras for the game, and it's got a full listing of all the items and item materials with bonuses and everything. So you can look up items there to quickly determine what's worth keeping and what's not.

There are also many item lists online if you don't want to download the cluebook and deal with a PDF.

While doing this is technically "cheating" I find it makes the MM games much more fun for me.
Thanks guys...

That said - I HAVE spent enough time on this game to pretty much know what's what, but once again, I just want to know if there are any UI mods out there that may do the following:

Make the sprites a bit more high resolution

Make the UI less clunky
The resolution is a fixed 320x200. There's nothing that can be done to improve it, not without rewriting the engine (which is taking a long time)
I am curious to hear what you think is so clunky about it though, beyond not being able to equip items and see stats in the shop.

That's about it really.

The open world UI is perfect, I enjoy it. But you DO have to admit the shop UI is terrible.

Sure thing.

Funny thing is I don't remember posting this.

I do remember trying to play Xeen sometime ago but can't remember why I didn't bother to just
play it vanilla.

This looks interesting, and something I may very well try out sometime (first, I want to replay World of Xeen unmodded, as it's been a very long time since I played it last). But, unless I am confused, it doesn't look like it affects the UI at all. But it does allow equipping more jewelry which may help a bit.
The Mac version of World of Xeen had higher resolution (640 x 480 (or maybe it was 400). There's a video of it on youtube. You might be able to track down a copy, and it works well with an emulator like Basilisk II.
