Sometimes something odd or amusing happens in MM7, and it seems worth telling the story. Feel free to post stories here about surprising or amusing things you discovered in MM7.

I recently got assigned an important quest from Celeste. When I returned with the quest item, I thought a plot twist had taken place as the Angels turned hostile. I figured it could be part of the quest, until I met with the advisor. As if not much had changed, he directed me back to the throne room. Confused, I left.. and a nearby peasant died.

Oops! It seems the inhabitants of Celeste would rather not have people wandering the streets with Immolation running.

Two things come to mind: one quizzical and the other funny.

Quizzical: the fort at Harmondale. I always end up killing my team with one of the buttons. Don't know why. Try it a second time and things work out. But I start doing the four buttons and WHAM--- I'm at the Pearly gates.

Funny: the enemies don't fight unless you enter their area. So you can see the characters in the distance standing around doing nothing like on a movie set until you approach. Then they "awaken". Sometimes, you get allies as in Harmondale with the soldiers near the fort. Some times you get allies you are not suppose to have. Some of the characters--- when awakened--- they end up attacking each other rather than your team (eg, the walking dead and the rats in the Dwarf Tombs.) Stand back and then fight the winner.
In the category "why can't I do that":

Why can peasants walk around on lava, in The Pit? My party takes hundreds of points of damage for doing that! I still haven't found "peasant boots of protect from lava", but it would be nice.

A beginner level monster, the dragonfly, can flit about in a castle. But when my grandmaster of air magic tries to lift off the ground... nothing. I understand the game puzzles would be too hard to work with flying, so this one at least makes sense.

If monsters were really smart, one would hide near my party behind a hill, while others shot from farther away near a tree. When I try to aim at monsters close to a tree, the game only registers the tree - I can't target the enemies there. So I press fire, and my arrows go straight for the hill. I will say it's great having a bow with explosive shots. Now when they hide behind a wall or tree, the explosion still damages them. Killed a few hiding monsters that way, while they shot at me.

I had a similar thing in MM6. I wondered why the party's reputation was suddenly Notorious...realized that Armageddon spell I dropped on those dragons also wiped out a town. Oops

I like to think that they are actually vastly higher level than you, but are working as "extras" in a fantasy adventure constructed to entertain you.

Hey, it's a living.
