First of all, no, there's nothing wrong with the game (at least not that i'm aware of o.O ).

This is my first MM game, i own MMVI The Mandate of Heaven Collector's Edition, but i've never managed to get em working on my old XP, or even my Win 7. I popped in the game today to give it a whirl and do some dungeon crawling (or at least that was the plan). My party consists of a Knight, Cleric, Rogue and Sorcerer. I chat up the locales, get used to the controls, see whats where in town, etc.

I head off in search of adventure and encounter some dragonflies, a few seconds while i figure out how to fight back and i immediately question myself "Is mashing the attack button all you do in this game?".

Excuse my epic and uber ignorance, but i was expecting turn-based combat where i could survey the situation, plan out my moves, etc....

With that said, maybe someone can help me better enjoy this game....somehow? although i think i see myself uninstalling this sooner rather then later, even though i want to try and like it...

Ah, maybe you haven't found the key switching between turn-based and real time? It might be something like space or return. Once you hit it, then the game comes to turn-based and then you can plan your attacks, strategies and so on.

Without that, yeah, M&M games can be frustrating.

As mentioned, the Enter key switches modes.

Also the Greyface patch is worth considering, since it adds handy extras such as mouse look.
